PHOTOS: Tameka “Tiny” Harris & Mother, Dianne Pope Hosts ’10,000 Coins 4 A Change’ Alzheimer’s Charity Event
On Saturday (March 1), a special event took place at Nancy’s Pizza-Buckhead in support of those who lives are affected by Alzheimer’s. The For The Love of Our Fathers foundation hosted the 10,000 Coins 4 A Change charity event, which VH1′s “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle” star Tameka “Tiny” Harris was in attendance. Tiny, along with her mother Dianne Pope, Shekinah Anderson, and King Harris were on-site to greet the crowd and show their gratitude for their support of Alzheimer’s research and caregiver’s assistance.
Many of those affected with Alzheimer’s are not only stricken with the disease, but also placed in unfortunate situations when there’s no one available to care for them. FTLOOF continues to spearhead efforts to financially support these caregivers. This is a cause Mrs. Pope is all too familiar with. Her husband fell ill to the disease and later passed away. This charity event, along with past events, are Mrs. Pope and Tiny’s opportunity to continue the charge of seeing that caregivers are supported and provided the facilities and/or supplies needed to care for their Alzheimer’s patients.
If you would like more information on FTLOOF and/or donate to the foundation, please visit www.fortheloveofourfathers.org.

In what may be the biggest lawsuit seen by the makers of the “Grand Theft Auto V” video game, one of the former cast members of VH1′s “Mob Wives” is playing no games when it come to her life.
According to the Examiner, Karen Gravano, the daughter Salvatore (Sammy the Bull) Gravano, has filed a $40 million lawsuit against the makers of the massively popular game, claiming her image and life story have been incorporated into the mafia-themed game without permission. Here’s the scoop:
The character that Karen believes is based on her is Antonia Bottino, whose father, former Gambetti family underboss Sammy (Sonny) Bottino, became a snitch. The online synopsis for the game states that Antonia and her family was forced to move from town to town to remain safe.
Karen’s own father, Salvatore (Sammy the Bull) Gravano, was a Gambino underboss who snitched, helping to bring down famed mob boss John Gotti.
In what may be the most obvious reference to Karen, the character Antonia is not allowed to join a TV show called “Wise B***hes.”
The former reality TV star wants $20 million in compensation and $20 million in punitive damages.
But, isn’t Grand Theft Auto an animated parody of some sorts? The game depicts the life of ball players, celebrities, etc and put them in game-life form. Is she mad because the makers didn’t ask for permission? Or nah?!
@TheKelseyNykole, of VH1′s ‘Couples Therapy’, Shares Her Plans as an Urban/Pop Artist & Being a Positive Role Model [EXCLUSIVE]
Rising starlet Kelsey Nicole Byers, better known to many as Kelsey Nykole, is setting her footprints in the entertainment industry. Kelsey Nykole is currently a cast member of VH1’s “Couples Therapy” Season 4, alongside rapper Ghostface Killah from the Wu Tang Clan.
Kelsey got her start in the entertainment business as a model. Kelsey is currently pursuing her music career and plans on taking her career to new heights. Kelsey has been nominated for music awards at the ‘Atlanta Underground Music Awards’ in 2012, as NYKKY B, and nominated for the 2012 ‘Indy Urban Music Awards’ winning ”Mixtape of the Year” & “Best Female R&B Artist” under the name Kelsey Nykole. She was a chosen artist to open for the ”Paradise Tour” at the Indianapolis Tour Stop and also called to Louisville, KY to open up for rapper Trina. The Indiana native known as “The Midwest Princess” discussed her accomplishments, her future plans, artists, and what she does in her free time during a recent interview.
How did you come up with the name Midwest Princess?
I didn’t come up with the name because of my swag. It was because of my passion and my drive behind my music. I actually got proclaimed that by a few producers I was in a session with. I was really getting around the Midwest and I was running it, building a name and they said you were the Midwest Princess and it kind of stuck from there.
How has your life changed since you appeared on VH1’s Couple Therapy?
My life has changed definitely in a great way. It is changed in a sense that when I walk the streets and when I go places, I get asked by fans running up for photos and things of that nature. It has brought a new platform for me to express my musical passion. I been building a lot more of a fan base when it comes to the music and I get a lot more support when it comes to my music. Which is amazing and beautiful, because you know you work so hard for so long. It comes a time when things start to pay off and that’s how it feels at this point. It’s all good. My life has changed socially because I interact with my fans a lot more on social networks than I used to. I interact with them definitely when I’m out and about. They notice me ’cause of my hair. It is my style and I can’t hide it. I can’t go incognito cause the hair it right there and it’s very noticeable. It’s all good. My life has definitely changed for the better and I’m excited.
Tell us about your singing career as pop/r&b singer, songwriter and are you currently working on anything in the studio?
My career as an artist, as a pop artist is my life, it’s my everything. I have been pursuing this dream professionally for almost five years. It’s been going wonderful. I jumped out there. It’s been my passion since I was a little girl. I knew this is what I wanted to do. Life hits and, in the teenage years, everything kind of blossoms out. I had a tragic incident that happened in my family that really woke me up and made me realize life is short. I have people depending on me and I want to set a great example out here for the person that the tragedy happened to. I really started to go very hard (that can’t stop won’t stop attitude towards pursuing my dreams) and something in my spirit really helps me with it. This is my purpose and what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s been amazing and over the years it’s been great growth, prosperity and blessings. Keeping my name good and respectable, definitely networking and showing my face in the right places and to the right people. Getting results, working hard, growing, developing as a artist and up to the point where it’s go time now. It’s time to take it to another level. As soon as I was done in the studio working on a lot of great music, I flew to Atlanta then to L.A., in the studio building a catalogue, writing and recording great music for my own project; be able to shop it to different artist out here. I’m definitely working on music and got a lot of great things lined up (a few music videos). Everything is all coming in due time. I’m very excited for everybody to hear it. Right now, there is a leak of a song, kind of a viral song – a song I did with super-producer/Grammy-award winning producer, Looney Tunez, called “Can’t Feel My Legs”. My actual single will be released in the spring and we are super-duper geeked about the world hearing the new sound and the music. So yeah, I’m working.
When you’re not in the studio, on TV or modeling, what do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I am working out, rehearsing, talking to family definitely, cuddling and loving on my child. It’s never a dull moment with me. I don’t like sitting around doing a lot of nothing. Sometimes, I will pray. I’m always using my energy and time wisely to ensure continuous prosperity in my career.
Any artists’ music you listen to often on your iPod? And, if you could collaborate with any, who would you choose and why?
I am a hardcore Beyonce fan, definitely blasting her music. I listen to Ghostface music. I listen to Amy Winehouse. I listen to Jazmine Sullivan. If I could collab with anyone right now, it would be super-duper dope to collab with August Alsina. I think we could definitely make great melodic-hypnotizing-sexy music together.
Would you ever do a collaboration with Ghostface?
Yes, absolutely. That’s definitely in the making, so keep it locked. Stay tuned.
What is your biggest accomplishment in this field of work?
I think my biggest accomplishment in my field of work thus far, is being a role model, being inspiring to younger girls. When I get tweets and get comments from younger girls when they want to be beautiful like me or they love my spirit – you know you such a good role model, such a good person. Just that love from these girls. Knowing I’m that somebody they can look up to, to set a new standard, that’s what I think is great for me over everything. I love entertaining crowds. I love the love I’m receiving and the support; getting that kind of response from the youth and from the next generation; being a new person to catch their eye and for them to pay attention to. Knowing that I have to set a great example, gives me life. I love it. That’s definitely what I plan to do. I have a vision board and one of the quotes I cut out says, “Pop stars stop saying you don’t want to be a role model because you’re”. We have a platform, there are people and kids looking at us all the time. They need something positive to look up to. I definitely want to be that. Not saying there aren’t any positive role models out there, there just aren’t enough. I definitely want to be that. That’s huge for me.
What else can we expect from you in the future?
You can expect everything from Kelsey Nykole. You can expect greatness, uncommon success from Kelsey Nykole, movies…the sky is not the limit. I’m reaching for the stars and beyond. You can expect great fashion from Kelsey Nykole, trend setting from Kelsey Nykole. You can expect great things from Kelsey Nykole, please believe that. So keep it locked and stay tuned.
Do you think the Indiana Pacers are going to win the championship this year?
I think they have a strong possibility of winning. They are an amazing team and I’m rooting for them 100%.
So, you think they can beat the Miami Heat this year?
Oh yeah, definitely. They beat them before and they can do it again.
How can fans keep in contact with you with social networks?
You can keep in touch with Kelsey Nykole at HeyKelsey.com, I’m on the web on Instagram and Twitter @TheKelseyNykole. On Facebook and YouTube, you can search me at Kelsey Nykole. When searching for the kid, make sure you spell the Nykole (N Y K O L E). I spell it a little different. You can hit me up on heykelsey.com and find the links for the social networks under Connect tab. Hit me up y’all. Google me. It’s music, news, and interviews. Everything is there for you at your fingertips.
Joseline, Lil Scrappy, Shay Johnson, Big Tigger & Others Attend ‘Sleazy & Zino Bistro’ Private Grand Opening [PHOTOS]
On Wednesday (Feb. 5), Stevie J and Benzino hosted a private grand opening event for their new spot, Sleazy & Zino Bistro & Bar. The “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” stars brought out several of their cast mates, local celebrities, and industry insiders for an evening of food tastings, Ciroc, and entertainment. Of course, “entertainment” is more of an understatement considering that the LHHATL production crew were in the building catching more drama for this upcoming season’s premiere.
During the course of the evening, DJ A-One kept the party atmosphere hyped before and after the fellas hit the stage to perform. Some of you may not know, but Stevie J and Benzino have a band called The Magnificent 757′s. With help from their band mates, the 757′s rocked the crowd with a few selections. We can’t front…the band sounded pretty good. But, viewers can vouch for that when the show airs. Plus, we have video footage coming soon. So stay tuned…
The turnout was good. In the building we saw Big Tigger (V103FM radio personality), Towanda Braxton, celebrity hair stylist and TV personality, Derek J, rapper Tiffany Foxx, Johnnie Cabbell, singer Shamari Fears-Devoe, rapper Gloss Da Boss, comedian Pierre, and a host of others. Even the WeAreToonz boys, with the new dance craze “Nae Nae”, bust a few moves for the party-goers.
As the top-rated reality television show among African-Americans (per 2013′s Neilsen Sound Scan Data Report), the evening couldn’t end without a few “TV ready” incidents occurring. Out of fellow cast members, Lil Scrappy, Momma Dee, Shay Johnson, Kirk Frost, Joseline Hernandez, Karlie Redd, and of course, Benzino and Stevie J – let’s just say that season 3 will bring more scandals and altercations! From what we experienced at this event, fans of the show WILL NOT be disappointed when the new season airs in May 2014 on VH1.
Special shout out to The Garner Circle and Sleazy & Zino Bistro & Bar for an awesome event. To view the full photo gallery, click HERE!

DID YOU SEE EPISODE 1? WHAT DID YOU THINK? SHOULD THE ‘SINGLE LADIES’ HAVE RETURNED?
Pebbles interview with Wendy Williams last week proved that: 1) Pebbles indeed carried Chanel purses all the time as the TLC biopic reflected, 2) A gag order is preventing her from truly telling her side of the story, 3) She’s pissed off at VH1 too and has plans to take them to court, 4) Condones her daughter’s hatred against Chilli.
Everyone who has followed the TLC story for twenty years expected there to be some backlash from their former manager, but never to this extent. The portrayal of Pebbles in the VH1 biopic, “Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story”, is all a bunch of lies according to the former label executive. She’s clearly on a mission to save what little bit of “good” reputation she has left by appearing on various media shows.
On “The Wendy Williams Show“, Pebbles was given the opportunity to appear and dispel any falsehoods shown in the film. Doing what Wendy is known for, she went straight in for the kill and asked Pebbles the questions that everyone wanted answers for. What Wendy and the viewers didn’t expect is that most of the questions asked would be shot down due to confidentiality agreements and gag orders. Pebbles, honestly, took up air time for no reason at all. Why was she even on the show if she couldn’t directly answer the questions??
Anyway, after the interview, Chilli and T-Boz quickly rebutted some of the things Pebbles did reveal on Wendy’s show. First, the girls released an official statement in denial of the Pebbles allegations that Chilli and L.A. Reid had a sexual encounter back in the day.
“No member of TLC ever slept with or had sexual contact with LA Reid as Perri falsely accused Chilli of on “The Wendy Williams Show.” In fact, Perri had falsely allege the same thing happened with Tionne.”
Pebbles also denied that she solely made the decision to kick Chilli out the group. And that, in fact, it was T-Boz and Left-Eye who decided that they wanted Chilli out because of her constant fraternizing with the “help” [Dallas Austin].
“I would like to confirm that Perri Reid was the only person who ever suggested that Chilli leave TLC. Neither Lisa nor I ever wanted or suggested that.”
At this point, no one knows who is speaking the truth or not. The only thing that we can confirm is that the movie is based on Chilli and T-Boz’s recounts of their past. The film was presented as their “truth”, so how can anyone dispute that.
The pending legal actions against the girls and VH1 is all talk until proved otherwise. If we believe Pebbles, however, she is going to sue so that she can clear her name and make some extra cash while doing it. And that’s not it! During her sit down with Wendy, she stated that she’s working on a book and certain things will be spelled out in detail on what happened between her, TLC and L.A. Reid.
SMH…the saga continues.
This morning, the founding member of the group TLC visited the Ryan Cameron Morning Show (V103FM-Atlanta) to share her side of “Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story”.
As shown in the movie, which premiered on Vh1 last night, Crystal Jones was apart of the original group which was to make up TLC. During an audition for Pebbles, Crystal was asked to sing while Left Eye and T-Boz did harmony in the back. When everyone realized Crystal could not sing a lick, that is when Pebbles decided to replace her. Eventually, Pebbles found Chilli and put her in the group.
During her radio interview this morning, Crystal’s stated that her portrayal in the biopic was not 100% accurate. Her manager at that time, Ian Burke, was also in the studio to clear up some of the falsehoods about the film. Both insisted that they actually thought of the idea about creating a female 3-member group. The group was to be reminiscent of the male group B.B.D. (Bell Biv Devoe). So, it was not Pebbles creation at all as she claims. Pebbles only gained ownership of the group and its name after the girls were signed to PebbiTone.
Several more interesting tidbits were revealed by Crystal and Ian that answers some of the “unknowns” many of us fans were wondering about.
- Ian claimed at first he did not want to put Lisa in the group. He initially rejected Lisa from the group because she wore a dress to the audition. Ian was looking for a girl in baggy clothes. But once he made Lisa rap for him, he was sold. Also, Lisa didn’t like the dress either. She told him she normally wears baggy clothes. That sealed the deal.
- Ian knew T-Boz was the one for the group after visiting her home at 2am. She had missed the auditions. So, he went to see her in person at her home. When she opened the front door, he immediately know she was “the one”.
- Ian says one pivotal part in TLC’s journey that the movie didn’t capture was Jermaine Dupri’s involvement. JD was actually the person who had T-Boz sing in her lower register. Her tone eventually became TLC’s signature sound.
- Ian expressed that TLC was actually SWV’s name. Since TLC hit scene first, SWV could no longer use it.
- TLC was never supposed to be a singing group; instead a girl power “movement” of some sort.
- Crystal says yes she has an issue with how she was portrayed during the audition scene. She insists that she can sing (but she didn’t take the opportunity on Ryan Cameron’s show to prove it to the world). *side eye*
- Crystal claims Pebbles indeed gave her a contract as well. However, she didn’t sign it because she wanted her mother to look over it first.
This interview with Crystal and Ian did bring up a good point. The producers should have allotted more time to (or a 2-night premiere) include other pivotal moments in TLC’s career. They says that a lot more things occurred surrounding T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli’s career.
It wasn’t mentioned on the radio exactly what Crystal is doing these days as a profession. But she did say that she was preparing a memoir about her life. The book will not be full of TLC bashing. But, we can expect a couple paragraphs about her short lived days in TLC. She’s since moved on and believes that everything happens for a reason.
The TLC biopic “Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story” which aired on Vh1 last night was nothing less than superb. If you missed the premiere, check the VH1 website for a listing of air times/dates. The journey of three Black girls becoming one of the largest girl groups in the world was a historical moment we all could finally see unfold.
The 2 1/2 hour movie was worth every minute that I watched. The life story of how the three women (Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas) all became known as the group “TLC” was one that had to be told as some point. With the live wire of the group, Left Eye, no longer living it was only right that T-Boz and Chili tell their stories while still alive and well. In my opinion, the depiction of each member was damn near worthy of an Academy award. KeKe Palmer (“Chilli”), Drew Sidora (“T-Boz”), and Lil Mama (as Left Eye) all three performed their butts off in this movie. From the mannerisms to the diction, these ladies really engulfed the each group members spirit.
Pebbles and L.A. Reid‘s characters played by Rochelle Aytes and Carl Payne, too played their parts well. The real Pebble Reid, however, was highly disturbed by her portrayal in the film. She’s noted to have went on Twitter insisting that she plans to sue T-Boz, Chilli, and the movie producers for tarnishing her name. But, the girls insists that the stories told are truthful. It has been mentioned as well that the movie actually did Pebbles some justice. Word is that she was a lot more sinister acting than that. Regardless, the business dealings of Pebbles were skeptical. Yes, TLC was created by Pebbles. Yes, Pebbles gave them their first shot at a music career. But, to knowingly take advantage of young women was disgusting. Just as a woman, Pebbles should have been a bit more empathetic. Unfortunately, her character was just plain ole ruthless.
Last night, millions of fans on were raving about how good the movie was. One thing that stood out was the lessons taught in the movie. The musical journey of TLC is one that all up-n-coming artists can learn from. The girls experienced financial issues which cast a dark cloud over the group for many years. It was good to see how the group dealt with it though. The viewers got the chance to finally see what caused it, and what they had to do to get out of those bad contracts and regain their financial stability. If any lesson was learned from “Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story”, it was that before signing ANY contract, educate yourself and hire a reputable lawyer to help you understand what percentages and stipulations are contained within. As with many other artists in the music industry, TLC learned the hard way. But, their ordeal doesn’t mean it will or can happen to you. So, please learn the business first before signing your life away.
Throughout the movie, however, there were a couple questions that wasn’t quite answered.
1. Where actually was their parents when they decided to sign Pebble’s contract? We know they were over 18 and legally able to sign off themselves. But, you would think that anything concerning money would still be overlooked by their parents. The minute she told me I was only making $25 a week, I would have push the brakes right there. It’s funny how Left Eye was always questioning why they were not being paid. Sometimes the “crazy” one actually be the “smart” one.
2. What was Pebbles underlying issue with Chilli? Was she jealous of Chilli for being beautiful? Did Chilli really sleep with L.A. Reid to get in the group (as rumors speculate)? Hmmm. There had to be a good reason why Pebbles always hated on Chilli. I mean, she kept getting pregnant “allegedly”. But, is that really a reason to kick someone out the group.
3. How did T-Boz and Mack 10 relationship play out? The movie stayed away from revealing their relationship. I wonder why. That would have been a good piece of knowledge to share. But oh well…
4. Why did they refer to Suge Knight as “Master P”? During those times, Left Eye was connected to Suge Knight as a lover (or maybe as a potential manager). Knight’s people must’ve put a gag order on the film, thus producers decided to use Master P’s name (since he was another big time CEO during those years).
5. Who was the mystery woman in the green dress (and curly hair) on the red carpet? T-Boz and Chilli was about to tear a hole in ole girl for calling their sister Left Eye crazy. All of #BlackTwitter were wondering who was the chick. That particular awards show was the VMA’s…maybe 2002 or 2003. The only female artist who wore green dresses (or green hues) was Jennifer Lopez, Kelis, and Beyonce. #BlackTwitter speculated that the girl was Blu Cantrell or Lil Kim. She could have been just a random lady on the red carpet. Who knows. But ifI had to take a wild guess…maybe it was Kelis. She’s the only singer I can think of who wore big curly blonde hair back then. See the pic below and tell me what ya’ll think.
Anyway, the movie overall was fantastic. Everyone did a good job playing their roles. Many people hated on Lil Mama assuming that she wouldn’t being able to pull it off. Instead, she went over and beyond as Left Eye. She truly embodied the rapper dialect, feisty behavior, and raw talent. Lil Mama was definitely the break out star on this project.
TLC still remains to be America’s #1 Top Selling Female Group of all time (and #2 Top Selling in the world). Their music is timeless and their story is rich in love and lessons. Kudos to the cast and T-Boz and Chilli on a job well done!
For anyone who thought the airing of the new TLC biopoic was going to premiere without a little controversy surrounding it, you were sadly mistaken. One of the most talked about stories in music history, the rise and downfall of the group TLC, is finally being told. But, there’s one person who is trying to put a stop to it.
TLC’s founder, Pebbles, caught wind of the movie and its content and is very upset at how she’s being portrayed. In a recent interview on Power 105.1′s Breakfast Club, T-Boz and Chilli were asked about certain scenes in the movie and confirmed whether or not Pebble’s character was exaggerated a little bit.
She did do some good for us, she taught us some things, she put us together, but then there’s always times when you work with people there’s always things that your never going to agree with and you don’t like their ways and people part so I didn’t think she got over that.
Chilli encountered a lot of hate from Pebbles. At one point, Pebbles kicked her out the group for being pregnant. She stated:
I didnt want to become a mother too soon, so teen pregnancy didnt happen or anything like that but when I did get pregnant and Pebbles kicked me out the group and then put me back in the group, I was scared and a lot of different emotions that made it hard to do what i did because i wanted it so bad.
Pebbles has since seen the Breakfast Club interview and quickly aired out her disgust via Twitter. Her claim is that they all played a part in this and she shouldn’t be the person to get slandered. Thus, she’s rounding up her team of attorneys and vows to sue the T-Boz, Chilli, and the network.
I’m NOT here to promote something I put on the MAP and yet have been disrespected by because of more reasons than one! Lawyers on deck????…I would say being lied on 4 as long &trying to continue to is sadder. But,the continued slander from all will help prove just what was done….Thank you love. It’s not good what they played a part of but it will be dealt with now that the slander continues. TLC without me? No way.??…
I am in shock listening to all this mess and lies on this radio interview!!This is madness!!! It’s SO hard to believe this! DO NOT believe…Love you guys. Not going to comment about this anymore on here UN officially. Dealing with this though. #??….
Damn…this is about to get real ugly.
In case you missed TLC on the Breakfast Club, here are the three-part interview. Part 1 discussed the Pebbles issue.
Exclusive: Rapper Yung Joc Confirms ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Season 3; Will Karlie Redd Find Love…This Time??
Shout out to Yung Joc, first off, for the exclusive scoop!
Who’s ready for season 3 of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta”? As the top rated prime-time program with an average of 2.1 Million viewers (ages 18-49) and the only reality show in the top ten of overall most watched television programs among African-Americans, according to a 2013 Neilsen study, “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” producers hit the bulls-eye with its group of cast members. The up and down, drama-filled relationships between Joseline and Stevie J, Lil Scrappy and Erica, and even the surprising events that unfolded in Rasheeda and Kirk’s marriage has kept millions of viewers wanting more. So, of course, Mona Scott-Young and Vh1 is amping up for the next season (#3) with evicted characters (Traci Steele & DJ Baby Drew…allegedly) and a couple of newcomers.
One suspected newcomer in particular is Atlanta’s own rapper Yung Joc. Yung Joc’s name has appeared on several blogs lately about his alleged relationship with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta cast member Karlie Redd. Karlie has been linked to several men in the industry (the last being fellow cast mate Benzino). However, in the past few months, the two appeared hand-in-hand at local events, and even hit up Joc’s birthday celebration together. So, what’s really going on? Are the two dating? Is this just to create a buzz for season 3? Well, Yung Joc himself gave me (Ms. Bels) the heads up!
Over the weekend at a birthday/block party for a mutual friend of ours, I spoke with Yung Joc to get confirmation on his upcoming appearance on LHHATL. “Yes, I can say I will be appearing on the new season,” stated Joc. When asked if he’s actually Karlie Redd’s “love interest”, he smiled a little but didn’t quite confirm. “You’ll have to wait and see when it comes on…and see how it all play out,” said Joc.
It’s going to be quite interesting to see how Karlie Redd’s character incorporates the rapper. I’m sure though Yung Joc is going to give this restart to relevancy all he got. Joc is a funny character and seems pretty cool too. So, he may just do very well on LHHATL. One thing I, as a fan of the show, am appreciative of is that Mona finally hired another person that is a TRUE Atlantan. With that, hopefully they will allow Joc to show some of the more down-home, grass roots sections of the city. Lord knows, a lot of us are tired of looking at scenes taped in Buckhead and Midtown.
Taping for season 3 will begin real soon. Yung Joc mentioned that his taping will actually start at the end of the month. Oops…I hope he didn’t let the cat out the bag too early.
Congrats to Yung Joc on the new gig. The hood will be watching!

Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes has been staples in the music industry for 20 years now. To mark their anniversary, the group will release a compilation album of their greatest hits on Tuesday, October 15. One song to be included on the album is written by Ne-yo and called “Meant To Be.” The production on this record is strangely reminiscent of the group’s signature sound that made them the #1 Best Selling “American” Girl Group of all time. Take a listen below:
We, also, mentioned in July that fans will get a chance to see how the girls career played out in a upcoming biopic. The movie will air on VH1, October 21 at 9/8c.
Vh1 premiered the season opening episodes for two of their highly rated shows Monday night. After the following the explosive part 1 of the ”Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” reunion, the time slot placements on VH1 was strategically on-point and held most viewers by hostage. Also, after viewing the drama that occurred on the reunion show, most viewers needed to let loose of the foolery and tune in to some good ole wholesome television. This is the flip-side of Vh1 that remarkably offset its ratchet-ness.
First up was “T.I. & Tiny’s: Family Hustle” season 4, which dove straight into the love life of their 13 year old son Messiah. Becoming a man involves dating, so what better way to kick off his birthday than by taking a chick on a date. Unfortunately, the date was chaperoned by Tip and Tiny and the rest of the clan. In case you watched the full episode, here’s some extra footage of the family’s Medieval Times outing below:
The Game and his long-time girlfriend, Tiffney, is back as well in “Marrying The Game”. In their first episode, the on-again-off-again couple still are going through the motions. They both decided to separate after last season’s failed wedding plans in order to re-evaluate their relationship. During this time, their three kids have been spending time at each others home. Although their co-parenting techniques are working, The Game has made it a priority to bond more with his kids since he’s away a lot. Peep out his bonding moment below:
No hate toward the individuals who sign up for these shows in order to advance their careers, but reality television is overrated. In addition to being overrated, the business has succumb to the negativity so much so that we can’t even watch positive shows without labeling them as “boring.” One city, in particular, is the southern version of Hollywood that many actors and actresses are relocating to. This city is Atlanta. Over the past 15 years, the city has grown into this spectacle of hot nightclubs and big business. Atlanta has also become a haven for film/tv production projects.
To help the Georgia economy, the state decided to give tax breaks to film companies. With this came an on-slot of new state-of-the-art production facilities which allowed filmmakers and directors to bring their visions to life. This also led the way for several reality shows to hit the city. The craze started out exciting and entertaining. Now, since more shows are being produced here, it’s has become a bit too much. People, such as myself, are getting tired of seeing Atlanta in the spotlight.
ATL, out of the spotlight…yeah right. That won’t be happening anytime soon. Bravo and VH1, for instance, are bringing new Atlanta-based shows to television by 2014. From what is being said thus far, “The New Atlanta” (formerly titled “Taking Atlanta”) and “Hollywood Exes: ATL” are both suppose to show cast members who are pursuing careers and making the most out of their life. Some may consider this as “positive” television, but we all know there will be a bit of drama. Drama brings the ratings. Atlanta is the breeding ground for foolery nowadays. So it is going to be interesting to see how these shows fare in comparison to other high-rated shows (i.e. “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, “Married to Medicine”, “Love & Hip Hop ATL”, etc).
In case you are wondering what both shows are about, check out what the blogs are saying:
According to BravoTV.com…
Over the course of Season One, The New Atlanta will follow five of the city’s trailblazers as they strive to achieve their dreams, search for love, and find resolutions to heartbreaks from the past. Fighting their way to the top, each hopes to make their mark in the cutthroat industries of fashion, music, event planning and business while taking advantage of Atlanta’s hot social scene.
So who are these movers-and-shakers? Meet the cast of the show below:
A triple threat—actress, singer and model—Africa Miranda is turning heads in Atlanta. Co-creator of the live concept show “The Lipstick Junkies” and the face of several international hair campaigns, her sultry voice and lovely locks have put her front and center in Atlanta’s entertainment industry.
A recent college grad, Alexandra is seen and heard in Atlanta’s hot Electronic Dance Music scene. She is a self-proclaimed “daddy’s girl” on the look-out for a husband who will be able to accommodate her current luxurious lifestyle.
Emily has the looks of the girl next door, but is a force to be reckoned with on her hunt for love. A successful boutique owner, she has quickly emerged as a new leader in Atlanta’s growing fashion industry.
Jevon “Vawn” Sims
Vawn is known in Atlanta’s bustling music industry as the “Go-to-Guy” for artist development and discovering new raw talent. Now writing a book promoting his theories on love and romance, this “bad boy” with “good boy” qualities talks about relationships like never before. His tell-it-like-it-is attitude is one that you will either love or hate.
A partner in an event promotion company, Tribble always has the scoop on the hottest parties in town. An up-and-comer in Atlanta’s entertainment industry, this former arena football quarterback knows what it takes to score on the field but is also looking for a touchdown in love.
Here’s a sneak peek:
“The New Atlanta” will be the second reality show project for Mona Scott-Young (Love & Hip Hop). The show premieres September 17th at 9pm ET.
Apparently, Vh1 is gearing up for a second installment of the “Hollywood Exes” franchise. When the ladies of Los Angeles are off-season, there soon may be a group of Atlanta women who’s going to give viewers exactly what they need.
According to Michelle Brown of StraightfromtheA.com, several sources are saying that Atlanta’s version will have several well-known ladies on the cast. A few members of the cast were apart of ,at some point or another, a very high-profile relationship. Their tumultuous relationships are what made these ladies “somewhat” of a household name. Between the storyline and the celebrity they were married/dated to, this will MOST DEFINITELY make good TV.
Here’s a list of the ladies that is in talks to do the show:
Sheree Buchanan (Ex-wife of former Falcons player Ray Buchanan), Christina Johnson (Ex Wife of Cee-Lo Green), Tameka Foster Raymond (Ex-Wife of Usher Raymond), Kim Elba (Ex-wife of Idris Elba), Monica Ambrose (ex-wife of Ashley Ambrose, a former NFL baller who played for several teams including the Atlanta Falcons) and Monyetta Shaw (Ex Fiance’ of Ne-Yo).

The music industry’s all-time top selling R&B female group, TLC, will soon see their lives played out on film in an upcoming biopic. The made-for-television movie is produced by Vh1 and will air in October. With direct consultation from members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, the film will recount the rise, fall, and untimely death of third member Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes.
When the initial cast members were announced, the public didn’t receive it too well. Many questioned if KeKe Palmer (Chilli), Lil Mama (Left-Eye), and Drew Sidora (T-Boz) could truly intimidate the group’s looks, style, and signature dance styles. But, it looks like the casting crew made the right decision. The actresses are going to make viewers do a double take. The similarities are astonishing.
According to MTV, “the biopic will be released in conjunction with a compilation album from the group that will include their biggest hits and a few new songs, including “Posh Life” penned by Lady Gaga and Dallas Austin, and “Meant To Be,” written by Ne-Yo. The group will perform the songs live with Lil’ Mama temporarily standing in as “Left Eye,” while other artists like Drake and J.Cole will potentially join them onstage as well.”
The excitement from the fans has begun to gain some steam with the recent on-set photos and sneak preview released to the public. In case you are wondering if the film will do justice to the groups legacy, take a look for yourself.

The event was held at The Art of Giving Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Party-goers were treated to a buffet and plenty of drinks. The birthday party was packed out. It was evident that Shekinah is loved by many.

It looks like the production for VH1’s TLC biopic Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story is moving right along. The network has released the first set of promo pics for the film. From the looks of things the network along with Chili and T-Boz who serve as consultants and executive producers for the biopic, the portrayal of the three ladies they chose to play the group are on point.
Check out Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, KeKe Palmer as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Lil’ Mama as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes below.
Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story chronicles the group’s journey from the beginning leading up to their ultimate rise to fame. VH1 plans to air the biopic later this year.
On Monday, April 15, STACKS Magazine had the pleasure to attend the premiere of VH1′s hit reality show Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: Season 2. The event was held at Cream Ultra Lounge and sponsored by VH1, Monami Entertainment, and NFGTV. Invitees (i.e. various media outlets and industry insiders) were treated to catered finger foods and Mona Scott-Young’s new Moscato wine, Myx Fusions, mingled and waited for an exclusive peek of the season’s first episode.
In comparison to the New York franchise, Atlanta’s cast proved last season that their drama is plentiful enough to draw in millions of viewers. Well, after watching the premiere episode, we can assure fans that this season will be no different. More fights, more friendships ruined, more baby mama drama, and everything in between. The entire cast will return in season 2 (Stevie J, Joseline, Mimi, K. Michelle, Erica, Momma Dee, Lil Scrappy, Shay, Benzino, Karlie Redd, Rasheeda, Kirk, and Ariane). However, a few new faces will appear this season. Like, Che Mack, a female rap artist who comes between Stevie J and Joseline’s working relationship. Also, radio/DJ personality Traci Steele and her child’s father, DJ Baby Drew. Viewers can expect to be glued to the tube. This season is going to be a real hoot.
The overall evening was cool. K. Michelle was a no show for unknown reasons. Karlie Redd wasn’t present, as well, because she missed a flight supposedly. And, Lil Scrappy was M.I.A.. Some speculate it was because of probation issues or embarrassment from news that has surfaced of him having money problems. Whatever the case, we wish they all could have been there.
Below are a few photos from the red carpet. Unfortunately, our cameraman was unavailable so we had to make it do what it do. So don’t judge us on the shots. :) The remaining photos will be located on our Facebook page and/or Instagram (@Stacksmag).
The night ended with a Q&A session with several of the cast members. Things popped off when it was ensued that Mimi was still in love with Stevie J…and his “unmentionables”. Mimi spazzed out claiming she wants no part of Stevie’s private area and that Joseline can have him. Strangely, it almost seemed as though Mimi was drunk or trippy off of something. She used to keep her cool. But, on Monday night, Mimi was turned all the way up. SMH. It was almost sad to see. On the other hand, Erica maintained her dignity when confronted about her and Scrappy’s “existing” or “non-existing” relationship. She wasn’t wearing her engagement ring that’s for sure. But Shay definitely made it clear that she and Scrappy will “always be friends” and will always have love for him. She also told Erica that Scrappy will NEVER marry her. Damn.
Several cast members were visibly absent from the Q&A session, most notably, Rasheeda and her husband Kirk. We aren’t sure if they avoided it on purpose because of her pregnancy or if they left the event early. Nevertheless, we can confirm that she IS pregnant. Congrats to Rasheeda!
We would like to thank Saptosa Foster of the 135th Street Agency for the invite. ‘Preciate it.
Everyone be sure to tune in Monday, April 22 to Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Season 2 on VH1!
Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Season 2 is on its way! Thank GAWD. No disrespect to the New York cast, but this season of LHH was a tad bit boring. But now that it is to an end, the Atlanta gang is ready to set our HD screens on fire.
Back for season 2 and from what we can see on the trailer, Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J is still holding hands despite his alleged side affairs. Surprisingly, Mimi Faust is no longer partaking in that threesome and has found a more stable man. But, it’s the new guy that has stirred up beef between her and K. Michelle. K. Michelle’s ongoing fued with Rasheeda is what…ongoing. New issues seem to be brewing between Rasheeda and her husband, Kirk. Seems like a new baby is the cause for all the strife. Lil Scrappy, his baby mother Erica Dixon, Shay Johnson, and Momma Dee’s lives are one big love triangle that most of us LHHA fans are all waiting to see how it plays out. Benzino and Karlie Redd let their relationship and lives play out on the upcoming season. And, Atlanta’s own DJ Traci Steele is the new addition to the cast bringing additional baby father drama that should fit in quite perfectly.
Oh Boy! There’s a lot going on this season…exactly what we need to be highly entertained.
In case you didn’t see the supertrailer, check it out below…
Season 2 of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta premiers Monday, April 22 at 8PM EST on VH1!
As filming for the VH1’s biopic, Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story, starts to take form, more and more information is coming to the table as to who the cast will include.
It’s already been confirmed as to who will play the three ladies of the group which include Lil Mama as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, KeKe Palmer as Rozanda “Chili” Thomas and Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.
Well now the word is in that Evan Ross, son of the legendary Diana Ross, has been casted to play Dallas Austin. Austin was TLC’s longtime producer as well as the ex-boyfriend of Chili and father to her son.
While there is a gap in age between to the two fellas, Ross is no stranger to Austin and vice versa being that the two worked together during the production of the movie ATL. In addition to Ross actor-model Donny Boaz has been picked to play Bill Diggins, the trio’s longtime manager.
For a brief moment, especially with the cancellation of the reality show ‘Starter Wives Confidential and green light, red light action that happened with rapper Shawty Lo’s baby mama drama show, it seemed as the world of reality was about to face some challenges. But have no fear because more reality shows are near.

In recent years, reality shows have been one of the biggest money makers for broadcasting networks.Over 20% of primetime television is now made up of programs that are reality shows and game show competitions. Not all reality programs enjoy the same level of success as others. But this genre of programming is big business and major networks, like CBS and FOX, continue to succeed in “reality” alongside cable channels such as MTV, VH1 and Bravo.
So, how much money does a successful reality show generate? One of the biggest hit shows ever was “Survivor” on CBS.During one of their season finale’s, “Survivor” attracted more than 50,000,000 viewers. In one night, this was the largest viewership than any other series that year. For three months, “Survivor” brought in an estimated $30 million in profits for the network.CBS also reaped additional benefits from the show because of its affect on other tv shows whose viewership increased by being programmed next to “Survivor”.
The return on investment is phenomenal for networks, which is why they will continue to produce reality shows. When a program is successful, the licensing fee is raised each year. The licensing fee is the amount the network pays the production company to deliver the show. Another potential revenue source is via advertising.Advertisers are willing to pay sizable amounts of money to have their product incorporated into these television programs. This is called product placement.Product placement is a multi-million dollar industry that had been scarcely touched by telelvision (unlike the music industry who within the year or so began incorporating this marketing scheme into videos, commercials, etc).
So for those of you who despise reality tv, hate it!It doesn’t look like the cat fights, sex and gender exploitations, and the alliances aren’t going away any time soon. In fact VH1, one of the main cable stations that center their programming entirely around reality tv, will be bombarding your flat screens this summer with a host of shows.

Congrats to the Harris family!
Looks like VH1 is getting their ducks in a row when it comes to putting together their highly anticipated biopic film about the beloved R&B girl group TLC. We’re sure the decision of just who will portray the three ladies was one of their biggest tasks, yet they’ve accomplished it.
We recently told you that rapper Lil Mama had been casted as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in VH1’s upcoming TLC biopic. Well now we have KeKe Palmer and Drew Sidora playing Rozonda “Chili” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.
As for the chosen, I’d have to say it definitely a good look. It’ll be interesting to see the three of them work together. Production for the biopic begins in the ATL next month.
It was announced last year that VH1 would be featuring the yet untitled biopic chronicling the journey of beloved 90’s girl group TLC. With that announcement came the biggest question of just who will be chosen to play the trio. Now while casting for the project started late last year, things have been pretty mum as to who will play TLC’s members Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
Well it looks like we have one down. It was recently announced that rapper Lil Mama whose career itself has been quite mummed has been casted to play Left Eye. This is definitely a good thing for Lil Mama considering the difficulty her career has faced over the last couple of years. We’ll just have to wait and see if she can pull it off. But I have to say her chances have to be good considering that both Chilli and T-Boz are signed on as consultants and executive producers of the movie.
We’ll keep you posted on when the TLC biopic will premiere. In the meantime let us know in the comments what you think about Lil Mama as Left Eye and who you think could pull of playing Chilli and T-Boz.
Chile…Tiny Tonight’s Valentine’s Day special got a little deep in the love and sex categories. But, when a few questions arose regarding cheap first dates versus extravagant first dates, it was clear that Tamar Braxton got a little peeved with Claudia Jordan. From that point on, the show took a turn…for the awkward. Although Shekinah provided a brief comedic relief with her Street Therapy bit, the show ended rather lack luster in comparison to its first airing. We’re not sure why VH1 decided to space the episodes so far apart. But, this time gap may have caused Tiny and crew a few less viewers this time around (which was evident because we barely saw any mentions of the show on Twitter).
Nonetheless, Tiny is still boss’n it up and doing her thang. Hopefully, we’ll see more concurrent episodes in the future.
In case you missed it, watch the clip that set it off below…
We recently gave the scoop on just who will make up the cast of the Love & Hip-Hop franchise spin-off based in the ATL. Well now the trailer for the show is out and it already looks like the show will have big things popping. Between Lil Scrappy’s attitude, Rasheeda chumping the record execs she works with and Stevie J and his trashbags, we’re not sure who going to bring the most heat. Nonetheless time will soon tell when Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta premieres June 18th at 8pm EST on VH1. Check out the trailer below…
The beautiful ladies of the hit VH1 series “Single Ladies” are back. After garnering over 3 million weekly viewers in season one, the dramafied and yet-so-entertaining characters are capable of capturing the same audience and more this season.
Stacey Dash will not be returning to the show. But, newcomer Denice Vasi will be taking her spot. We’re not sure if Denic’se storyline will pick up where Stacey’s left off. If it does or not, this show surely knows how to tap into the most controversial topics. So, any storyline she has will suit viewers just fine.
Here’s a deluxe snippet of what’s to come this season. Check it out:
Tune in to “Single Ladies” on Monday, May 28 on VH1!
Creating a wave of shock, the recent announcement of Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall AKA Derwin and Dr. Melanie Barnett Davis’ departure from BET’s The Game, many are left wondering why and if the show can go on without their main thing. While many speculated that the two were fired, Tia spoke out first saying she was walking away to make other career moves. Well she further stated her claim, in an interview yesterday morning with Carrie Keegan on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live. In the interview she says the split was amicable and talks about her upcoming project with ABC Family. You can check out the full interview below.
As for Pooch, who has yet to comment, it’s being reported that he was recently casted in a new Showtime drama. Only time will tell how this will turn out and just what impact it will have on the success of the show.
Earlier this year it was announced that VH1 in conjunction with the producers of Love & Hip-Hop were taking the franchise to a new level with an ATL spin-off. Well it seems as if their plans are moving right along and they have now officially revealed just who will be a part of the cast.
Now while it was initially said that former Crime Mob member Diamond would be on the show, it was later revealed that she gave up her spot due to her ex-fiance Lil Scrappy and his mom being casted as well. Nonetheless on with the show they go naming producer Stevie J and his girlfriend Mimi Faust, Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, rapper Lil Scrappy and his mom Mama D, Latina rapper Joseline, and new recording artists K. Michelle and Karlie Reed.
Like the original the show’s mission is to highlight the cast members as they pursue their dreams but we’re sure the show will be no stranger to drama. Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta premieres June 18 at 8 p.m. EST.
