The Ratchet Report: Comedian Claims Eddie’s the Father, Young Jeezy’s In Trouble Again, Mandela & His Rabbit Ear
Each week Stacks Mag will bring our readers “The Ratchet Report”…. We will highlight hot topics that have made headline news that make us say “Really”….. We will choose one report to receive the “Really Award” for the most down right ratchet thing we have ever heard of…. So sit back and enjoy as we bring to you “The Ratchet Report”!
Will the Real Murphy Please Stand-Up
Eddie Murphy is on the defense about claims of alleged accusations of being the father of rising comedian…. Eddie Murphy popular actor and comedian hired lawyers to mount up on what he states are false claims that he parented a fellow young comedian. Brando Murphy has been threatened by Eddie’s attorney that he has gone on record to stating that he is the son of Eddie Murphy. Letters to Brando Murphy from Eddie Murphy’s attorney state allegations that Brando has gone as far as changing his last name to Murphy and showing up at Coffee Bean & Tea were Eddie often visits screaming, “My father won’t talk to me.” Brando has also joined the “Sons of Comedy” tour with Mason the son of the late great Richard Pryor. Brando replied to Murphy’s attorney stating that he has never stated that he was the son of Eddie Murphy and threatened to sue the comedian for defamation.
The best way to settle this is to call Maury. In the case of grown ass Brando, Eddie you are not the Father!
Rapper Young Jeezy Arrested Again
Young Jeezy arrested after dispute with cops…. We all know Young Jeezy for his boss like rap image and hit songs, however cops don’t seem to feel the same way. On January 21st, police responded to an alarm at the residence of his alleged girlfriend in Alpharetta, GA. Cops weren’t certain what set the alarm off however when they arrived all hell broke loose. Police reports state that when they arrived to the alarm call the request to see ID from Young Jezzy however he refused to cooperate. TMZ reported that Jezzy told officers he would not provide them with his ID and went as far as pulling away while being hand cuffed. The popular rapper was arrested earlier this month for a dispute between him and his teenage son.
Jeezy is the big homie so in the immortal words of him “Wait a minute, everybody balls for the photos. Somebody tell these local hating people I’m global.”
The new 29.5-foot Statute of Nelson Mandela under Fire
South African officials demand sculpted rabbit be removed from Mandela Statue….South African officials are not happy about a new statue in South Africa of one of the world’s greatest leaders. The statue is the second largest exhibit in South Africa that honors Nelson Mandela. However, officials feel it does not represent what the country is proud of. The Department of Arts went on recorded stating that they were not aware that the statue had a small sculpted rabbit in one of the ears. The statue was supposed to represent the devotion and efforts of the country’s first Black president. South African official Mogomotsi Mogodiri is very disturbed by the the rabbit and would like for the rabbit to be taken out without any harm to the statue. Andre Prinsloo and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren stated that they added the rabbit as a discreet trademark for their work.
This situation is defiantly out of control. A signature rabbit in the ear of one of the world’s most influential leaders is straight whack.
This week the “Really Award” goes to artists “Andre Prinsloo and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren”. I’m sure there are a few places they can stick that rabbit and the ear of Icon Nelson Mandela definitely isn’t the place.
New Orleans-native, August Alsina, preps his debut album with a new joint, “Make It Home.” The soulful ballad features street poet, Young Jeezy. On the song, the handsome young thug sings from the heart – the same way he did on his EP, Downtown. It’s apparent that he’s using the his story of pain and struggle as the backdrop for his first solo project on Def Jam. Which is good because Alsina is currently in a lane of his own.
Testimony is scheduled to be released on April 15.
Fabolous has actually had a worthwhile, and slightly underachieving, career. He has had albums that have moved plenty of units and singles that received plenty of radio rotation. However, he hasn’t made any notable album releases in recent history. He can still drop the female dedicated single that gets plenty of love. Yet, the release of a powerful album has eluded him.
Then I realized why: he has been reserving his best work for his Soul Tape mixtape series. After giving Soul Tape 3 a thorough listen, the same can be said for it as well.
This mixtape starts off both soul-infused and engaging from the beginning. Within the first three songs (the Stacy Barthe featured “Everything Was The Same”, “Sacrifices”, and “Playa”), all you get is pure soulful realness from Fabolous. And it just continues with tracks like the “Dead Presidents” influenced “The Get Back”, the Young Jeezy featured “You Know”, and the hedonistically truthful “Cuffin’ Season”. Even the powerful feature by Jadakiss on “The Hope” doesn’t take away from the mood that Fabolous has captured on this mixtape. The thing about his mixtape, that his albums as of late haven’t captured, is easily noted in one word: consistency.
The first reason why this mixtape comes off so engaging is due to Fabolous’s lyrical display. “Sacrifices” begins with a full display of honesty and alliteration:
Seeing yo family scrambling, that’s sanity damaging
Gotta make a move, can’t just stand and be mimicking
Have a man who be managing, randomly standing in places he shouldn’t
Tryin to move that Pamela Anderson under…
Standing these hammers and grandma keep paddling
Cuz them niggas from the other side of fence will be vanishing
New day, new funeral, my grandma be panicking
But I gotta eat, she just handing me sandwiches
As you can see, he is giving us realness and literary devices in his rhymes. His lyrical displays of dominance only continue throughout the album. So, many listeners will not that his masterful use of words is pretty proficient.
Another reason his mixtape wins is, of course, the soulful production. “Young OG” bangs out with the same sample that Kanye used on “On Sight”. “Thim Slick”, one of his dedications to his preferential figures on his female acquaintances, is filled with notable boom-bap claps, R&B influenced instrumentals, and sampled vocal wails. Throughout the album, the production is consistently sounding like an old sampled ’45 record from your parents’ basement (or attic). In turn, the soulful production just contributes to why Soul Tape 3 is named what it is.
Outside of the nice but strangely placed “Foreigners” track, you can see why Soul Tape 3 wins. The production is on point. The lyrics are apparently appealing and worthwhile. And his guest list doesn’t outshine him on his own stuff. Now, if only his album could be made in the same form or fashion. Then, we will all know how things can be “fabolous”.
RIP: DJ Nando, Coalition DJ & Pioneer of ‘Breaking Records in Strip Clubs’, Killed During Home Robbery
One of the founding members of the Coalition DJs, DJ Nando, was killed early this morning. Atlanta DJ an don-air personality Greg Street tweeted the following sentiments a few hours ago via Twitter:
If Another Brother/s Robbed & Killed Dj Nando, He/They Robbed Themselves, Robbed Us, We Lost! Its Bigger Than Just You! Really “THINK”
— djgregstreet (@DjGregStreet) January 14, 2014
If Another Brother/s Robbed & Killed Dj Nando, He/They Robbed Themselves, Robbed Us, We Lost! Its Bigger Than You #RIPDJNANDO
— djgregstreet (@DjGregStreet) January 14, 2014
According to Fox 5 news, the victim was shot in the head outside of his home in Morrow, GA during an attempted robbery. The Clayton County Police Dept is currently investigating the incident and reports that there has not been any suspect(s) apprehended at this point.
DJ Nando is best known for his time spent on the CTE roster as Young Jeezy’s official DJ. He helped propel the successful careers of many artists through heavy rotation in Atlanta strip clubs. The use of strip clubs to break records, as we know it today, was primarily started by DJ Nando and the Coalition DJs. To their credit, the Coalition DJs were recently recognized by the WallStreet Journal for their major contribution in the Atlanta music scene (read here).
DJ Nando was also the in-house DJ during the infamous “Monday Nights” at Magic City. Most recently, he’s been spinning at Onyx.
The news come as a shock to many of his peers and friends in the music business. Many remember him as a “real cool dude.”
As more news surfaces, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Rest in peace DJ Nando!
“You really thought a ni–a really wouldn’t gone talk kilo, no mo’. Like a ni–a hit the studio and never ever sold no blow.” – Jeezy
El Jefe is back with a new banger. Released just in time for the BET Hip Hop Awards weekend in Atlanta and for his birthday, Jeezy is letting be known that an album is on the way. To accompany the Childish Major produced track, Jeezy released a short video speaking to local DJs and other industry peers about what he’s been cooking up in the studio.
It seems like he’s ready to get some stuff off his chest. Hinting to the fact that “the statue of limitations is over”, could this mean that he’s ready to speak on a few things (i.e. BMF) that his fans been waiting to hear? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Take a listen to “In My Head” below…
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS NEW JOINT?
Finally, the CTE/Def Jam camp has released the video to YG’s “My N***A” track. In my opinion, this was the hottest song on the B.Y.L.U.G. mixtape which dropped a few months ago. So, it is good to know there’s visuals to go along with it. Although I’m still becoming familiar with the California-born rapper, I appreciate his L.A. sound and the authenticity of his work. His chemistry with DJ Mustard is an added plus too.
YG is expected to drop his first solo album on November 19. No word yet on who all will appear on “My Krazy Life”. But word is that Drake will be featured on YG’s lead single “Who You Love.”
Peep the video below:
Visuals dropped this week for Yo Gotti’s “Act Right”. The song is the lead track off of his upcoming I AM album. This will be Gotti’s first studio album. For this joint, he took his Memphis swag over to the west coast and hit the streets with YG and Young Jeezy.
Check out Gotti’s new video:
Yo Gotti is hopping on the west coast bandwagon. In this remix, the Memphis, TN rapper brings back Young Jeezy and YG. But, he adds IAMSu! to the G-mix for additional heat potential. Get it into and take a listen:
After announcing that he’s officially a CTE signee, the Compton-native drops new music. “Ride For My N**a” features his boss Young Jeezy and Atlant’s own Rich Homie Quan. Produced by DJ Mustard, YG keeps the track gutter and straight west coastin’. Check it out below…
On Thursday, June 13th, platinum recording artist Young Jeezy celebrated his new partnership with Gourmet Footwear. The event was held at Wish Atlanta Boutique (located in the Little 5 Points area). Various media outlets, celebrities, and tastemakers were in attendance to get a first-hand look at shoes. The founder of Gourmet Footwear, Greg Lucci, was in the building to speak more about the partnership with the Snowman. In an initial press release, Lucci stated that Young Jeezy was the ideal candidate for the collaboration because of his ability to have “navigated himself to an aspirational lifestyle from humble beginnings.”
Gourmet Footwear is a LA-based company that separates itself from other brands by offering high-end luxury shoes for the regular guy. The brand specializes in Italian leather and other unique styles that give the average casual shoe more refined look. Several of the shoes were on display during the event. From black suede and animal print to red alligator full-grain leather, the styles and colors of the shoes were somewhat eclectic in taste and would best be adorned by the fashionably-driven who aren’t afraid to stand out. Because of the high-end fabrics that they use, you would think the shoes are pretty expensive. Surprisingly, the shoes are not. Most of the shoes, after checking their website at www.gourmetfootwear.com, cost around $100.00.
To see first hand what the shoes look like, here are a few photos from the event:
Also, Mimi Faust (Love & Hip Hop ATL), Verse Simmonds (artist), Trinidad James, DJ Baby Yu, Kahdijiha Rowe (Big Rich Atlanta), and others were also in the building to support Jeezy’s new business venture. Check out the photos:

Young Jeezy been laying low for a second. Assuming he’s been plotting and strategizing for the summer, he recently made the announcement that he’d signed a new rap group. No, the new group isn’t from the South. In fact, he went up North to secure this talent. The Doughboyz Cashout crew hails from Detroit, Michigan. Yes, they have a big buzz in the Midwest, but not so much in other regions. So what better way to help introduce the boys than with an EP.
CTE: #ItsThaWorld EP is a six-track compilation of tracks featuring the new CTE roster. In addition to the Doughboyz Cashout, Cali’s YG also appear on the mixtape with features from Juicy J, DJ Drama, Yo Gotti, and Rich Homie Quan.
Listen to the new EP below:
Virgin Islander, Verse Simmonds has returned with a smooth summertime groove. The “Fully Loaded” track features Young Jeezy and is produced by Verse’s own production team, Sak Pase. This is truly song that will maintain the mood at any pool party or night out with your boo thang. Check it out for yourself below…
No word yet on when fans can expect a new project from Verse Simmonds. But, we’ll stay tuned.
Young Jeezy enhanced his “R.I.P” joint, this week, with the addition of three West Coast legends. Too $hort, E-40, and Snoop Dogg hops on the G-Mix with Jeezy and proves that the song is definitely a breakout hit for the Snowman.
Check it out below and let us know what you think…
The highly anticipated club banger “R.I.P” has finally been released as a full video. The track, produced by DJ Mustard, features bars from fellow Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz. Amongst Young Jeezy’s industry friends who attended the video shoot were T.I., E-40, Snoop Lion, Ludacris, Neyo, Draya, Big Sean, and many more. Peep the video below…
Filmed in Atlanta, Trinidad James’s “All Gold Everything” gets a facelift with the A’s allstar players. T.I. , Young Jeezy, and 2 Chainz didn’t dissappoint at all on the remix. 2 Chainz even debuted his alter-ego voice which has a European flare to it. Funny indeed. Nonetheless, check out the AGE remix video below and let us know what you think.
The Fox Theatre was turnt up Saturday night as Jermaine Dupri and his So So Def family celebrated their 20th Anniversary. As expected, a sold out crowd and the majority of the So So Def roster came out to support music legend JD. Da Brat, Jagged Edge, J-Kwon, Xscape members LaTocha & Tameka Scott, Kris Kross, Bow Wow, Lil Jon, Bone Crusher, Anthony Hamilton, Dondria, are just a few names that were in attendance to perform some of their most recognized hits.
But, JD pulled out all the stops with a few surprises up his sleeve. His longtime friend and musical partner, Mariah Carey, came out to celebrate. Usher Raymond, Ludacris, Lil Scrappy, Nelly, Pastor Troy, Young Jeezy and to everyone’s surprise Jay-Z stepped out on stage to pure pandamonium. Check out a few pics from the event…
In case you missed the concert or live telecast on Direct Tv’s channel 340, here are a few performance highlights from the So So Def concert:

On a first listen to Young Jeezy’s Its Tha World (Es El Mundo) mixtape, the “R.I.P” track can be determined as a definite repeater. Produced by DJ Mustard, the west coast signature sound has made this song an instant favorite for DJs and rap fans. So much so, it currently stands at #17 on the Urban Radio charts.
Directed by Taj, the track features 2 Chainz. But, Jeezy must’ve known that visuals with only the two wouldn’t be enough for this instant hit. That is why damn near everybody came out to the video shoot. Shot in L.A. during Grammy week, some of their rap peers in attendance were. T.I., Big Sean, Nelly, Snoop Lion, Warren G, Y G, and even Draya (from Basketball Wives of L.A.).
Thanks to Instagram we have a few behind the scene photos. Peep them out below….
50 Cent released the visuals to his newest joint “Major Distribution”. The track idolizes the dope dealer game and the weight that’s pushed. Featuring Snoop Lion and Young Jeezy, the song hits hard. Get into it below…
One of the hottest songs of 2012 “All Gold Everything”, just turnt up a few notches. The overnight sensation Trinidad James keeps it true to his Atlanta roots by enlisting the talents of T.I., Young Jeezy, and 2 Chainz on the track. Although the original beat is maintained, the remix is still a definite banger.
Check out the remix below:
Who do you think ripped it on the remix??
Scrilla dropped a new joint, coincidently, on the same day he announced his departure from CTE. To show that ain’t no harsh feelings, the new track “High and Fly” features Young Jeezy. Richie Cap 1 lends a few bars to the song as well. Check out the track below…
It’s holiday season and families are exchanging gifts and enjoying the moment. But for many people the holidays are not so joyous. Therefore it is always a good thing to see local citizens, and even celebrities, give back to the less fortunate within their communities. For instance, Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz, and Meek Mill all recorded footage of their day of giving back. Peep the videos below to see how each fella were a blessing to so many…
Last month he said it was coming and Young Jeezy has kept his word. Just as he said he would he released his mixtape, It’s Tha World as promised yesterday.
While he’s already given us a few songs from the mixtape, just by looking at the tracklist, it seems as if Jeezy had quite a few tricks up his sleeve when it came to packing it with power. Tomorrow at 12 noon, Young Jeezy will drop his new mixtape “El Hefe: It’s Tha World “Es El Mundo”. But in the midst of the hype surrounding the mixtape, Jeezy has been making announcements and fielding questions regarding CTE World’s move to Atlantic Records and the departure of rapper Freddie Gibbs.
Today, Jeezy released a statement regarding both items.
“Freddie is a talented artist and I decided that it’s time to press reset on my career and business ventures. I have no doubt that Freddie will go on to be everything I believe he can be, and I wish him the best in his career.”
As for the label, CTE World, Young Jeezy stated…
“This is a fresh start for the CTE brand as we re-launch it. This is why I chose to wipe the slate clean and create an outlet to support and nurture new artists to the best of my ability.”
Young Jeezy was appointed the Sr VP of A&R at Atlantic Records earlier this year. It will be interesting to see to what level he will take the label and the artists. Only time will tell…
It looks as if Young Jeezy is slowly but surely making more of a presence on the music scene. With his It’s the World mixtape on the way, he’s releasing new music and giving his fans a taste of what’s in store. After releasing his song “Get Right” last month, Jeezy is back with a new track called “Stylin”. His DJ Drama hosted mixtape is set to drop on Decmeber 12th. Listen to “Stylin” below…
While Jeezy’s is repping for the newer school of hip-hop, it can’t be denied that some of the old school g’s are still putting it down. Putting a bid this time for the old school vets is Wu-Tang member Raekwon.
In an effort to give his fans a feel for what’s to come on his upcoming free EP Lost Jewelry, Raekwon has released a new song from the EP entitled “86.” Lost Jewelry is scheduled for an early 2013 release.
In case you’re wondering why Raekwon is releasing a free EP, straight from the horses mouth via Twitter he said, “Free Ep to give back to y’all and I just need ya to hold me down when it’s album time!!”
In addition to the EP, he has two new album in the works. Take a listen to the DJ Thoro produced track “86” below…
Mr. “Bandz A Make Her Dance” Juicy J isn’t slowing up no time soon. He released a new track featuring CTE’s Yound Jeezy and G.O.O.D. Music signee Big Sean. The song “Show Out” is still in the same vein as most of Juicy J’s music. It works…so why change it!
Check it out below:
Juicy J’s Still Trippy album is due out sometime in 2013.
Young Jizzle continued his philanthropic gestures this Thanksgiving. Always thinking of those less fortunate, the platinum rapper surprised citizens of Atlanta’s Decatur and 4th Ward neighborhoods with free turkeys. Check out the video coverage below:
It’s great to see celebrities pass on their blessings to others. Way to go Jeezy!
In other Jeezy news, the visuals behind the first single off of his upcoming album hit the net today. “Get Right” video features Jeezy and his squad parlaying in Macon, Georiga streets. It’s definitely a hard track that compliments his grimy flow. Hopefully, this is a sign of great music to come on the next album.
Peep the video:
You can now purchase “Get Right” on iTunes !
Just in time, Young Jeezy released a track the day President Obama was voted to remain in office. It’s all about timing. This is why I am a huge fan of Jeezy…he thinks strategically. :)
The Snowman’s ode to President Obama, ‘We Done It Again’, gives us insight on the plight of our black communities and the effects politics has on them. Remember, Jeezy gave us a smash hit four years ago with ‘My President Is Black’. In that same breathe, Jeezy stays true to topic as he rides around the A still keeping it G in his Rolls Royce. Check out the video below…
“It’s Tha World” according to Young Jeezy and apparently his world went back to his old stomping ground for his latest video shoot. Jeezy called on his homies in Mac-town to get live one time to the grimy street anthem, Get Right. Draped in his signature blue color, Jeezy and his squad keeps it gutter and true to the flavor we all have grown to expect from the multi-platinum rapper.
No word yet on the title of his new album or when it will be released. To hold us over though, peep these exclusive pics from the Get Right video shoot and the audio video of Jeezy’s new banger.

Jay “Young Jeezy” Jenkins and Demetrius “Kinky B” Ellerbee developed a tight knit friendship after serving time at a youth boot camp program in 1995. After discovering the love of music both shared, the two went on to form Young Gunz Entertainment, Inc, which later became Corporate Thugz Entertainment (CTE). Young Jeezy, even as Co-CEO, honed in on his rap skills and became the headliner for CTE. Later signing on with Def Jam Records (under the leadership of L.A. Reid and Shakir Stewart), Young Jeezy’s popularity grew via six solo albums…and millions of dollars soon followed.
Fast forward to 2012, word has hit the streets that money troubles are apparent at CTE. Demetrius Ellerbee filed a lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court claiming that Jeezy failed to share millions of dollars in profits earned through album sales. According to the AJC, Ellerbee’s attorney Mario Breedlove says his client has not seen approximately $5 million in royalites and advances from Def Jam Records. Ellerbee’s lawsuit claims that Jeezy “misappropriated” company funds and redirected monies into his personal account.
“They were partners,” Breedlove told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday. “They started the company together. They grew the company together. And he’s entitled to one-half.”
In addition to the $5 million, Ellerbee is also seeking punitive damages and legal costs. Comments from Young Jeezy’s attorney has not been released.
My BFF (in my head) stay WINNING!!! It is confirmed that Young Jeezy is now the Sr. VP of A&R at Atlantic Records. The cat was originally let out the bag on Wednesday by popular Atlanta DJ Greg Street. Shortly after, Young himself tweeted the confirmation.
“From the streets to the Boardroom. SVP of A&R at Atlantic Records I am. Let’s Get It! #itstha world,”
“Corporate thuggin to the max!”
After the success of his recent gold album, TM103, it’s evident that Young Jeezy is here to maintian his spot in rap music. Also as co-founder/CEO of CTE World (Corporate Thugz Entertainment), he’s proven that he has the know-how to obtain talented artists (as CTE’s roster include notables like Freddie Gibbs, Slick Pulla, Tone Trump, and Boss Rossini). But the questionable part is how his own career will be affected by this new career move. Young Jeezy is currently signed to Def Jam Records.
Congrats to Young Jeezy on the major move!
