So many things have transpired since Brett Favre retired in March, and in June announced that he wanted to return to the field. After a bitter tit for tat match with the Green Bay Packers concerning his return, they have finally settled their differences. The Packers have decided to stick to their original plan of starting Aaron Rodger as their quarterback and have traded Favre to the New York Jets.

Thursday’s press conference in Green Bay took on a morose tone after the ugly split between Favre and the Packers. “It wasn’t Brett’s fault, it wasn’t our fault but the relationship got to the point where we all had to move on,” said Packers president Mark Murphy. “It’s like a marriage that ends. It happens. Neither party is at fault.”

Well I guess that settles it…the Brett Favre era is not over! As a result of the trade, the Jets released quarterback Chad Pennington to make room for Favre’s contract under the salary cap. (Source)
