Although it is in its trial phase, Google’s new social network may give Facebook and Twitter a run for their money once it is in full swing. Google+ is banking on their privacy capabilities to overshadow those of the other, more popular, social networks. Privacy, and the lack thereof, has been a major concern for users. Google apparently took note and will now let their users create groups (Circles) that includes only those the user chooses to add in any particular circle.  This segways into why this is the numero uno (No. 1) reason to use Google+.

Users will have complete control to customize privacy settings.  Unlike Facebook, which gives users the ability to customize their privacy settings to Only Friends, Friends of Friends, Everbody, etc.  Google+’s Circles allows the users the opportunity to group individuals as you see fit. You can create a circle for your Boss & Co-Workers, Cousins, Girlfriends, BFFs, etc.  So if you do not wish to let your boss see what you wore at the club Saturday night, you can choose to only share that info to your Girlfriends circle.

Reason No. 2:  Users can chat via live webcam with more than one person at a time. These cyphers are called “Hangouts”.  This gives a new alternative to conference calling.  Friends or business partners can hold Hangout sessions at any time. Why pick up the phone a call when you can chat via webcam to your friends!

Sounds interesting! Google’s trial period is still underway.  But, if you think this may be the good social network for you, go to Google+ and sign up.  Once the system is up and ready for the entire public, Google will send out an email notification to all signees.
