SMH…it’s a shame that people even have to read ridiculous news stories such as this one.

A Colorado Senator, Vicki Marble, made an absurd comment recently during an Economic Opportunity Poverty Reduction Task Force meeting. The task force included lawmakers who would review and discuss the poverty levels and disparities amongst various races. During their discussion, Marble commented that “”Although I’ve got to say, I’ve never had better barbecue and better chicken and ate better in my life than when you go down South.” She also spoke on African-Americans an their overwhelming health scare of sickle cell.

The comment sparked a big outrage. One Democratic representative, Rhonda Fields, was highly offended by the comment and had her two cents to share.

“I will not engage in a dialogue where I’m in the company, where you are using the stereotype references about African-Americans and chicken and food … I will just not tolerate that.”

What was Marble thinking when she made this stupid comment?  The whole world pretty much each or have ate fried chicken once in their life. Regardless of if Blacks or any other race eat chicken frequently, this does not associate or cause the high poverty levels within their communities. Now, she may have wanted to say that since the price of chicken is cheaper than some other meats, this may be one determining factor that can possibly point out which races may suffer economically. But to specifically say that Blacks are poor because they eat fried chicken is extremely offensive and untrue.

SMH. And these are the people we vote into office. Chile please!
