The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, 116-113, on opening night of the 2013-14 NBA Season. Newcomer Xavier Henry led the way for the Lakers with 22 points and former Laker Jordan Farmar returned to the Lakers with 16 points and 6 assists. The Lakers outscored the Clippers 41-24 in the fourth quarter and went on a 28-8 run to take the lead for good.

The Lakers played their backups all of the fourth quarter and five out of the six reserves scored in double figures. Pau Gasol scored 15 points and had 13 rebounds for the Lakers and Blake Griffin led the way for the Clippers scoring 19 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. DeAndre Jordan had a double-double for the Clippers with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and star player Chris Paul had 15 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
