Read enough of my work, and you’re sure to find “Life is fleeting” littered about like trash on a desolate highway. It’s not only fleeting, it’s hard. No matter your financial aspirations, world conquering business ideas, or your impending lotto winnings, the sooner you accept this truth, the sooner you’ll be able to comprehend the following: Life is all about what you make it. Therefore, it is what you speak into it. I don’t mean proclaim you want a million dollars and honestly think it’s going to magically manifest itself into your bank account. You’re still required to do the work. I’m speaking merely about the immense power of positive words and how life altering maintaining a positive disposition can be. However, before positive actions and subsequent results take place, we must first practice speaking positivity into existence. There is no circumventing this process. It has been proven that success is a culmination of positive habits. By developing the habit of speaking positively, we are able to establish a foundation of positivity, which will embolden our efforts to achieve and sustain success, health, and happiness.

So how do we speak positivity in the midst of hardship? What affect will speaking more positively have on my life? Both answers are entirely contingent on you. There’s a daily exercise I practice every morning. After I say my daily prayers, I give myself a daily pep talk. I stand in front of a mirror and I encourage myself. I may say, “You are focused, talented, and are destined to succeed” on Tuesday and “Today will be a great day. You woke up this morning so you’ve already won” on Wednesday. It’s not so much about reciting a particular script as it is the routine of speaking prophetically. This exercise always sets the tone for the rest of my day. You can equate it to a prize fighter who recites, “You didn’t come this far to lose” to himself before being escorted to ring side. How about the quarterback who says to his teammates, “It’s Showtime, we CAN do this!” as they take the field for the big game? What you say to yourself on a daily or even weekly basis can have such a significant impact on both the direction and quality of your life. The power of the tongue is enormous, which is why we must make it a habit to speak positivity into the atmosphere. Speaking positivity into your life isn’t rhetoric. It’s a proven remedy against negativity, self-doubt, and uncertainty. Your life will never be perfect, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a slave to negativity. When you’re more positive and speak positively, it really can transform your circumstances. Speaking positively (less complaining) also changes the way we focus on problems. Instead of focusing on the negatives, we start focusing on solutions. It is through the search of solutions that we develop our resolve, find humility, and hone in on our purpose.

We’re almost at the end of the year and I’d like to invite you to try my daily exercise. I would like for you to locate the nearest mirror. Stand in front of it, look yourself in the eye, and scream at the top of your lungs “I will speak positively, prophetically, and on purpose!” If you actually did it, I certainly hope you’re in the privacy of your own home. If not, I’m not responsible for your security escort to your car. Speak positively; good thoughts beget good habits. Speak prophetically; if you claim your success you’re already half way there to achieving it. Speak on purpose; be mindful of the words you speak and you (and those around you because it’s infectious) will reap the benefits on into perpetuity. .
