Music Review: @SyAriDaKid – Ultrasound 2: The Rebirth

The Ultrasound 2- The Birth

Sy Ari Da Kid has been at this for quite a while. With previous releases, mixtapes, shows, and videos, Sy is now reaping some benefits. With the popularity of his single “Popular” rising, it is time for capitalization. And by capitalization, I mean more shows, more radio play, and more press. In order for that to happen, however, his new mixtape called Ultrasound 2: The Rebirth has to garner its proper respect. So, he has to make sure that people like me tell you all about the music that he has out in these streets.

To be fair, most of the tracks will not even be in the vein of “Popular”. In fact, many of the mixtape songs are heavy on storytelling, jewel dropping, and tracks made for listening.

The tracks that are made for the clubs are both hard hitting and few-and-far-between. The aforementioned “Popular” is just that: the most popular song about Sy and his rise in popularity. “Turn Up On A Fuck Nigga (T.U.O.A.F.N.)” is very repetitive with the title being constantly repeated. “300 Spartans” is a heavy hitting posse cut that has over 20 artists sharing the microphone. So, Sy Ari could make a club track with ease.

The thing about him is that he can also easily make the music that has a message. “Business Is Personal” tells a telling tome of how business can go awry and alter relationships. “Forgiven” is a track that allows Sy Ari to ask for forgiveness before drastic events take place. “Uncle Sam” gets into the ins and outs about making money, “taxing” and the U.S. as a personified figure in our lives. Listen close enough and Sy Ari’s memorandums can be easily heard.

Even more intriguing is Sy Ari’s ability to craft songs that are either moody or on the level of some “night time R&B” music. “Sticks and Stones” easily sounds like something Drake or PartyNextDoor would perform. Another track in the same vein would be “Materialistic”. On the aforementioned track, Sy Ari gets into the material things that people love to lust and thirst after. Not for nothing, Ultrasound 2: The Rebirth packs a punch due to the varied offerings of music.

Ultrasound 2: The Rebirth is a mixtape that plays more like an album. Although the mixtape is quite long on tracks, it is not short on impressively dope music. With a rich diversity of tracks that can reach many different listeners and tastes, Sy Ari made sure to cover his bases. The good thing is that there are no filler tracks on this mixtape. The only true bad thing to be said is that this mixtape isn’t retail.

Pat yourself on the back, Sy Ari The Kid: you just released one of the best mixtapes, if not albums, this year.
