Hollywood lost the life of one of its beloved actors yesterday. Oscar-award winning actor and comedian, Robin Williams, died of a suspected suicide at the age of 63.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Williams was found by unconscious and not breathing at around 11:55am in his Tiburon, CA home.  Authorities state that after accessing the crime scene, it is believed that Williams died of asphysia.  But a thorough forensic examination and tests will be conducted by the coroner on Wednesday, August 12th.

Williams’ publicist Mara Buxbaum told The Hollywood Reporter: “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

His wife, Susan Schneider, said: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”

Although Williams starred in numerous films and performed stand-up on many stages, it was known that he’s dealt with alcoholism and depression for several years. He was recently released from a treatment center to cope with sobriety.
