After winning their copyright infringement lawsuit in 2014, the Beastie Boys will now receive $668,000 to pay for their attorney fees.

A judge ruled that the company who owns Monster Energy drink must pay $668,000 to the legendary hip hop group Beastie Boys. The ruling stemmed from their lawsuit against Monster Energy, in which the company was found guilty of copyright infringement and ordered to pay the Beastie Boys $1.7 million.

During the ordeal, the Beastie Boys decided to obtain top lawyers and pay for attorney fees themselves. U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled that the “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)” band would receive a reimbursement of the costs associated with their legal representation.

The Beastie Boys was victorious as a federal jury agreed that Monster Energy committed infringement.

“Presiding over trial and hearing the surviving Beastie Boys’ testimony, it was apparent to the court that this case had great personal significance to them,” Engelmayer said. “Monster’s commercial exploitation of the band’s music and songs, and what the Beastie Boys perceived as Monster’s crass misappropriation of the name of the recently deceased Yauch in its video promoting its energy drinks, appeared to have deeply offended plaintiffs.”

The 2012 Rock Hall of Fame inductees are survived by Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond. The third member Adam “MCA” Yauch died of cancer in May 2012 at age 47.
