Kentucky Clerk Refuses Gay Marriage License

The saga continues with gay marriage in the state of Kentucky. U.S District Judge David Bunning ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis to jail after she refused several marriage licenses to gay couples. Davis stated “You can’t be separated from something that’s in your heart and in your soul.”

After several attempts to get Davis to comply, he said she left him no choice but to give her jail time. “I myself have genuinely held religious beliefs,” the judge said, but “I took an oath.” Several people from all walks of life chanted outside of the court house about the ruling…some against gay marriage and some for it.

Although Davis is on her fourth marriage, she stated “I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will,” said Davis, an Apostolic Christian, in a statement this week. “To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and God’s word.
