EDM Producer, Steve Aoki, Explains Why DJs Make $400K Per Night in Vegas [VIDEO]

This week, EDM producer and artist, Steve Aoki, sat down with Larry King on the Emmy nominated series  “Larry King Now.”  Aoki is the son of Hiroaki Aoki, the founder of the Benihana chain of restaurants.  The young DJ didn’t follow in his father’s footsteps, but instead embarked on a career in electronic dance music.

EDM has become a multi-billion dollar industry. Its popularity has grown in the U.S. in the past few years and club owners are now dishing out hundreds of thousands to EDM DJs. During Aoki’s interview with Larry King, he explained why Las Vegas, for instance, is the best place for DJs to make money. He revealed that hotel owners in Vegas will spend up to $400,000 per night for a top DJ.

“Vegas is definitely the city that has the money to pay the biggest DJs in the world to keep coming back on a consistent basis. So there’s no other city like that in the world that has that kind of income to generate… People that are sitting at the table buying 50 bottles of Cristal and Dom Pérignon, celebrating whatever they’re celebrating with whatever money that they got, seeing the DJ they want to see,” Aoki explained.
