The New Orleans Pelicans have named Alvin Gentry their next Head Coach. Gentry and the Pelicans agreed to a four-year deal. Gentry is currently one of the Assistant Coaches on the Golden State Warriors. Gentry, along with Head Coach Steve Kerr and his staff, helped the Warriors achieve the best record in the NBA this season. The Warriors advanced to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1975 and will earn their fourth NBA Championship if they can beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Gentry has 12 years experience as a NBA Head Coach and has compiled a 335-370 record. Gentry has coached the Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns. Gentry help lead the Suns to the 2010 Western Conference Finals where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Lakers went on to win the 2010 NBA Championship. Gentry will have the opportunity to coach Pelicans star Anthony Davis. Davis is a two-time NBA All-Star and was selected to the 2015 All-NBA First Team.

Gentry will be coaching one of the top five players in the league and if Davis agrees to resign with the Pelicans, Gentry and the Pelicans have a bright future ahead of them.
