The 2nd annual Wearable Art Gala took place this weekend, showcasing the humanitarian efforts of Beyonce Carter and Gloria Carter.

Held at the WACO Theater in LA, Tina Knowles and husband Richard Lawson welcomed the art industry’s elite to a fabulous night of style and giving back. Jay-Z’s mother, Gloria Carter, received the Everyday People Award. In a touching tribute from the Roc Nation CEO, he joked “She raised four kids and she did the best job with me.”

Then Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé received the 2018 Waco Theater Humanitarian Award. The singer gave a endearing speech giving praise to her mother, Tina. Former first lady Michelle Obama also sent Beyonce a prerecorded message, which was played on screen to the audience.

The night couldn’t end without paying close attention to the fashions. The event focused on a specific dress code of “Waco to Wakanda,”which was inspired by the Black Panther film. During the gala’s art auction, Blue Ivy stole the show as she continued to bid on a $17,000 acrylic painting of a young Sidney Poitier. JAY-Z attempted to stop her by taking away her paddle, but it didn’t work. Blue bid even higher at $19,000. Film mogul Tyler Perry eventually out bid Blue with a final bid of $20,000.

Blue remained a participant and bid $10,000 on a deconstructed law and medical book, which she ultimately won.

Other celebrity guests in attendance were Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie and son E.J., Samuel Jackson, V. Bozeman, Lisa Raye, and more.
