When he said he wanted to become the first hip hop mogul to become a billionaire, he wasn’t lying. Forbes recently released its list of Richest Hip Hop Artists of 2013 and guess who landed at number one.
Again, trampling over all other artists in hip hop, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs reclaimed his number one spot by racking in $50 million this year. For years now, he has dominated the hip hop industry with various business ventures which has all proven to be very profitable. But outside of music, his Sean Jean clothing line, and his newly created Revolt channel, the alcoholic beverage industry is what has catapulted him into King of All Bosses status.
The Daigeo Ciroc Vodka has become a staple within the hip hop nightlife scene. With the help of DJ’s, celebrity endorsers, and Diddy’s own marketing expertise, the New York Bad Boy has branded the product so strategically that you can’t help but recognize it and ask for Ciroc when you want to get your drink on. Also, its wide variety of flavors has proven to be a hit amongst drinkers.
Our boy, Jay-Z ranked number two with $43 million. But that’s no sweat off Hov’s back. Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce’s combined household income of $95 million confirmed their spot as the #1 Highest-Earning Celebrity Couple of 2013.
Surprisingly, one hip hop artist (who happens to be a woman) help round out the top five. Congrats to Nicki Minaj for a job well done and for also beating out her own boss Bryan “Birdman” Williams!
1. P. Diddy = $50 million
2. Jay-Z – $43 million
3. Dr. Dre = $40 million
4. Nicki Minaj = $29 million
5. Birdman = $21 million
In a bizarre accident involving celebrity bodyguard, Norman Oosterbroek, authorities are still unsure why he was found acting eratic in a Miami mansion.
On Monday, Oosterbroek was tasered by authorities after being allegedly harassing Markus and Christiana Jung. They were the owners of the mansion and the ones who called 911. According to their story, 43-year old Oosterbroek was fighting and ingesting a strange substance all while acting erratic in the nude. Officers claim they were trying to break-up the fight and decided to use a Taser. Oosterbroek was taken to Baptist Hospital, but died a short time after arriving.
Officers aren’t sure why Oosterbroek was even at the couple’s mansion. However, when the Miami Police approached him, he was very violent, uncontrollable, and unstable. Oosterbroek’s wife has refuse to make a statement at this time. The two share one small child.
Reports state that Oosterbroak was a known drug abuser who’s been in and out of rehab for years. He was often seen protecting the lives of many of our high-profile celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West. Oosterbroek got his big start as a bodyguard for Nelson Mandela.

In related news, this weekend Beyoncé and Budweiser caught some slack after her set was cut short via the live stream. Beyoncé stans were in an uproar when they only got the chance to see just 8 minutes of her performance. Of course, social networks (i.e. Twitter) exploded with angry comments. SMH…
No public explanation has been made by Budweiser, the sponsor of the live stream.
The incomparable, undisputed heavy weight show stopper Beyonce herself has done it again! Some may call her Sasha Fierce others call her KingBey but the one thing that’s certain is Beyonce Knowles-Carter is memorizing audiences everywhere as Mrs. Carter on her Mrs. Carter tour. Night after night city after city, Beyonce has been leaving her fans with an unforgettable entertaining experience.
Monica Brown and NeNe Leaks were a few of celebrities in attendance at the most recent Atlanta show at the Gwinnett Center. Fans blew up Twitter, FaceBook and InstaGram’s newest feature InstaVideo with songs and past and current performed during the show. Social Media fans were quoted saying “Beyonce is so amazing, she can’t be a human being.”

On July 4, Samsung allowed 1 million Galaxy owners the opportunity to be the first to receive Jay-Z’s Magna Carter Holy Grail. The download app hit phones at 12am and for the next 24 hours social networks were ablaze with chatter about the new album. Although, some experienced trouble with the app crashing, those that heard the entire project was pleasantly surprised. Often labeled as another ”classic” by the Brooklyn rapper, Jay-Z stays true to his art form and ability to kill the game with each verse.
To celebrate the occasion, Samsung hosted the official release party in Brooklyn. Jay-z and his wife Beyoncé were seen getting their two-step on all night. Many of Jay’s industry friends were in attendance like Timbaland, J. Cole, Busta Rhymes, Nick Cannon, and Tyson Beckford. Also, his sisters Michelle and Andrea Carter came to support their brother. Other attendees included Adriene Baillon, Emily B, Raekwon, and local business associates.
Check out a few photos from the exclusive party below:
Magna Carter Holy Grail ’s official release date is July 9.
For the past two consecutive years, good ol’ Oprah Winfrey sat in the number two spot. But, in 2013, she had regained her throne as Forbes Celebrity 100′s number one lady. Earning a whopping $77 million this year, Oprah beat out her close competitors which included Lady Gaga (#2, $80 million) and Steven Spielberg (#3, $100 million). Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list is determined by several factors: yearly estimated earnings, number of times celebrity is mentioned in print and on TV, social network strength, and desirability the celebrity is to marketers. So although Spielberg is estimated to make more money this year than Oprah, the OWN network founder is overall a more influential celebrity.
The top ten rounded out as follows:
1. Oprah Winfrey $ 77 million
2. Lady Gaga $ 80 million
3. Steven Spielberg $100 million
4. Beyoncé Knowles $ 53 million

6. Taylor Swift $ 55 million
7. Bon Jovi $ 79 million
8. Roger Federer $ 71 million
9. Justin Bieber $ 58 million
10. Ellen DeGeneres $ 56 million
Several newbies made the list too for the first time like Hugh Jackman (No. 11); Channing Tatum (No. 23); Jennifer Lawrence (No. 49); Emma Stone (No. 84); Mila Kunis (No. 89) and Amy Poehler (No. 92). Athletes Usain Bolt (No. 48); Drew Brees (No. 50) and Danica Patrick (No. 91) join fellow newcomers Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. (Erika) James (No. 42); model Miranda Kerr (No. 100) and TV host Sean Hannity (No. 72).
No word on if this is the final cut or not. But, the snippet which aired along with Beyoncé’s H&M commercial has not leaked in its full capacity. The song “Standing On The Sun” is a reggae-inspired track which is a bit up-tempo and perfect for any summertime beach fun. In the song, she sings about being heated up by the presence of a lover somewhat reminiscence of how the sun rays beam down on her. Take a listen…

On Monday, Kelly Rowland premiered a new track from her upcoming album Talk A Good Game. The song which features her Destinys Child sisters Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, showcases the harmony and talent the three women so eloquently share. But, Kelly stresses that “It is NOT a Destiny’s Child track. It’s me featuring Beyoncé and Michelle,” per her response to Billboard in April. ”You’ve Changed” is about a love that she’s finally letting go. Is this insinuating that the three ladies will no longer be a group? Who knows! But, apparently Kelly is ready to move on with her life.
Talk A Good Game drops on June 18. The new album will feature Wiz Khalifa, Pharrell, The -Dream, and others. The official release of this single, “You’ve Changed” drops on June 4. Until then, take a listen and let us know what you think.
Kelly Rowland is coming out hard with her new song “Dirty Laundry.”
Not only are her vocals on point, but the transparency of herself in the lyrics drive it all home. In her new single, Kelly is uncut about her feelings when it comes to struggling with her career whims, watching Beyonce’s rise to the top and dealing with a chaotic and abusive relationship.
“Dirty Laundry” was produced by The Dream and is from her upcoming album Talk a Good Game. Listen to “Dirty Laundry” below.
It looks like Beyonce’s papi, Matthew Knowles is next up in line when it comes to who owes back taxes to the IRS
According to reports, Mr. Knowles owes good ole Uncle Sam an estimated $1.2 million in back taxes for 2010 and 2011. He was still managing his superstar daughter then which of course attributes to why the amount of what he possibly owes is so high.
It’s kind of hard to believe that Knowles would be so careless with his finances considering how good he’s been with making money over the last decade or so. But who knows how this could of happened. All I can say is that somewhere along the way, Knowles dropped the ball and didn’t stay on top of his affairs. Hopefully he’ll get it all worked out soon and not have to go the Lauryn Hill route.
The fabulous and fierce Beyonce is getting quite a few win-win perks lately especially when it comes to the brands she endorses.
We recently got a taste of one of Bey’s new songs in her recently released Pepsi commercial and now she’s giving us another one. This time around while flaunting the new threads from H&M’s 2013 Summer Swimwear Collection in a new commercial, she’s doing it all to another one of her new songs.
Check out the commercial below to see what H&M has to offer while getting your fill of Beyonce’s new song “Standing on the Sun.”
We love it when Andre 3000 mysteriously pops up with new music. This time around, he lends his creative juices to a remake of the late Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black”.
Along for the ride, however, is Mrs. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The two very talented artists add a different spin to the track, which will be visually heard on the remake of the Great Gatsby movie. “Back to Black” will also be featured on the movie soundtrack as well. Although this is just a snippet, you can tell is going to be a fan favorite.
In addition, Beyoncé’s hubby Jay-Z pens the song 100$ Bill on the soundtrack. Will.I.AM. Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, and many others were all called on to bless the movies’ soundscape.

OK, Drake’s admiration for Beyoncé is evident in a new track released last night. The song, “Girls Love Beyoncé” is not an ode to the multi-platinum singer. However, it is a ode to his own dealings with relationships and “girls”. “Girls Love Beyoncé” uses, however, samples the 1999 Destiny Childs hit ”Say My Name”.
Take a listen to the song and let us know what you think!
As a part of Pepsi’s “Live For Now” global campaign, Beyonce as a part of her $50 million deal with the beverage brand, has a new Pepsi commercial.
In the commercial King Bey is in a dance studio surrounded by mirrors in which images of her during her career appear and ensue in a dance battle of sorts. But of course being just as fierce she shatters them all and ends the commercial stating “Embrace your past, but live for now.”
Beyonce’s new song, which happens to be a Timbaland-produced track titled “Grown Woman” serves as the music for the commercial.
About making the commercial, Beyonce said, “I had so much fun collaborating on this campaign with Pepsi. I got to relive some of my favorite past characters and looks. It was the first time I saw those costumes in years and it was very emotional. I’m proud of those moments and they all connect in some way and have helped me evolve into who I am today.”
Take a look at the commercial below.
New Music: Beyonce”s “Bow Down/I Been On” Remix feat. Slim Thug, Bun B, Lil Ke Ke, Willie D, Scarface, & Z-Ro
“King B” kept it real trill with this new remix to the highly criticized “Bow Down/I Been On”. The Queen of H-town, Beyonce, called on several of city’s legendary rappers to add a bit of the chopped and screwed swag to the track. The remix features Slim Thug, Bun B (UGK), Lil Ke Ke, Willie D (Gheto Boyz), Scarface (Gheto Boyz), and Z-Ro. Peep the remix below and let us know what you think.
Beyonce Knowles-Carter…chileeeee…you are ON ONE with this track!
As proven in her HBO documentary, Beyonce is clearly letting us all into private world bit by bit. For those who had opinions about how the multi-platinum singer was too reserved and too classy, King Bey is finally giving us the real. No one can deny that the girl is successful and has worked hard for every dollar and award she has. “Bow Down / I Been On” is the right way to tell the haters to step off because no one will claim her throne.
Get into her new track below…
You Go Girl!!! You did that!
Black and gold must be the new color these days for rappers…and now singers. Whichever is the case, The-Dream new promo photo for his upcoming album Fourplay is simple but cool. The new studio album is scheduled to be released on May 7. His lead single “Slow It Down”, featuring Fabolous, is out now.
Not really hurting for money, The-Dream keeps the hits coming through his production and songwriting work with Rihanna, Beyonce and a host of others. Speaking of Beyonce, The-Dream recently spoke to Rap Fix Live about the direction of Mrs. Carters’ new album.
“There’s no particular sound that I think we’re shooting for, we’re jus trying to make music that feels good,” said The-Dream. “If you seen the HBO thing, which was great, we had been talking about doing something that showcases who she is and what she wants because we see those figures that are so out of the stratosphere. She’s just shooting to be regular and okay and not trying to appease everybody, he said. “You have to appease yourself and your soul for doing it.”
We can’t wait to hear the new projects from both artists. Hotness guaranteed!
In what was deemed her most in-depth and personal look yet, Beyonce Knowles-Carter premiered her documentary on HBO this Saturday. ‘Life Is But A Dream’ captured never-before-seen footage of her continued highs and lows of life, career, media, love, family, and motherhood. With a startling kick-off confession of her feelings about her father Matthew Knowles, the sincere moment was definitely a great segway into the rest of the film.
From sharing her personal thoughts on taking control of her career to experiencing a painful miscarriage, Beyonce fulfilled her purpose of giving the world a closer look into her life. Did she reveal enough? That verdict is still out. But, if some of us didn’t get quite what we expected, we did get the chance to see the beautiful Blue Ivy Carter.
In case you missed it, check out the full documentary below…
After viewing the documentary, as did many blog sites and viewers, there were a few questionable aspects of the film. Here’s my opinion…
Beyonce’s documentary was directed by her. First and foremost, major kudos go out to her for boss’n up and taking ALL control of how and when her image is seen. I’m down with the female empowerment movement. So, I appreciate that she’s taking an Oprah-like approach to her brand. However, I think having control of edits and what footage wa seen, I believe took away from the authenticity of the film. It seemed at certain points in the film, the scenes were staged. Even if cameras were following her day in and day out, using someone else to direct would have allowed viewers to see an unbias view of the megastar.
Honestly, I’ve seen most of Beyonce’s performances on television and DVD. Even though I have yet to attend one of her live concerts, it feels like I am seeing the exact same footage over and over…and over…and over. Maybe it’s because I’m hearing her sing the same ole songs which is making the choreography and stage sets seem repeditive. I don’t know. But, I do believe that a lot of the actual concert footage could have been left out of the film. Personally, I would have preferred more behind-the-scenes footage during pre-production. The scene, with the head dance guy going off on the girl for complaining about not knowing how to sew a hat on her head, was very entertaining. I tend to like a little ratchetness from time to time.
Also, I hated that Jay-Z wasn’t seen more in the film. I love their relationship. She is clearly head over heels for the Brooklyn rapper/entrepreneur. When he was singing the Coldplay song to her, that was a priceless moment. It was very nice to see a man act so vunerable and sweet. It made me look at Jay in another light. Lastly, I’m sure it was all part of Beyonce’s plan to only reveal so much. Will we get more footage and personal thoughts in a future film project? Or in a biography? I’m sure we’ll find out in due time her reason for only giving the fans just a little bit.
Nonetheless, I wish Beyonce continued sucess in her career, marriage, and motherhood. No one can deny that the little girl from Houston is a bonafied superstar! Not even I…
OWN’s ‘Next Chapter’ continues to draw millions of viewers with in-depth highly exclusive interviews. Next up to sit down with Oprah Winfrey is none other than Beyonce. Expected to air at 8pm (one hour before her anticipated Life Is But A Dream documentary program on HBO), Beyonce will share some information that will act as a prequel to her documentary.
We’re sure all of her fans can’t wait to see both programs. Beyonce is known as a private person. So, it will be interesting to learn some new things about her. Peep the trailer below…

Will you be making your way to check out The Mrs. Carter Show???
When the naysayers question your talent, PROVE THEM WRONG! And that’s exactly what Beyonce Knowles-Carter did at her official Super Bowl XLVII press conference. To end speculation that the Grammy award winning singer/songwriter can’t sing, Beyonce set it off by singing an acapella version of the national anthem.
Peep her performance below:
After belting out this great performance, Beyonce did however speak on why she chose to use a pre-recorded track for President Obama’s inauguration ceremony.
“I am a perfectionist … I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show and a very important moment for me.”
She added, “Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”
Now…CAN SHE LIVE??!!
Since they parted and when their separate ways, many have wondered if the ladies of Destiny’s Child would ever reunite. Well for now it looks as if the answer is still no, but that doesn’t mean they’ve stopped putting out music.
Last year the trio which consists of Beyonce Knowles-Carter, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams released their album Playlist which was a compilation of their number one singles plus a few additional tracks. Well yesterday Beyonce announced via her Facebook page that the ladies have another compilation album on the way, but this time around there will be some new material.
The new album, Love Songs, will include the new song called “Nuclear” which was produced by Pharrell Williams. Love Songs is scheduled to be released on January 29th, but you can pre-order the album from Amazon. Check out the Love Songs tracklist below…
1 Cater 2 U
2 Killing Time
3 Second Nature
5 Now That She’s Gone
6 Brown Eyes
9 If You Leave [ft. Next]
10 T -Shirt
12 Say My Name (Timbaland remix)
If for some odd you reason you ever questioned whether or not the superstar diva that is Beyonce would stay on top of the money making lists considering her slight hiatus after giving birth to Blue Ivy (just to give you a reason), let me tell you now it’s not happening.
As if she hadn’t already secured her spot with her long list of successes, in what was an ultimate power move, the ‘Dance for You’ singer has added to her list a stack of a deal with Pepsi. With an estimated $50 million deal she’s landed with the beverage company Beyonce has definitely put a lock on her top earning spot.
In the deal, Beyonce will become the face of the brand and allow Pepsi to sponsor her albums, music videos, concerts and photo shoots. In addition to that, Pepsi will afford Beyonce a mutilmillion dollar stack to be used at her disposal for her projects. Not to mention limited edition cans with an image of her face stamped on the side which will be released in the spring.
On why she chose to work with the brand, Beyonce says, “Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve. As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”
We know Bey loves her creativity so this should definitely be a good fit for her.
“I always battle with ‘How much do I reveal about myself?’ ”
This is what you hear Beyonce ask in voiceover in the recently released teaser for her upcoming documentary in which she promises to be up close and personal letting her fans deeper into the world which she has managed to keep fairly private.
The project which is titled Beyonce: Raw Real Revealed will cover her childhood, go behind the scenes of her tours, and include personal confessions, interviews and the diva trek back on the scene after giving birth to Blue Ivy earlier this year.
The documentary will air on February 16, 2013 on HBO. Check out the doc’s teaser below…
With parents like Jay-Z and Beyonce, it was pretty much a given that their offspring, Miss Blue Ivy Carter, was already in place to become a household name without having to do anything at all. With that being said, early on it went even further with talks of the little ones’ name being trademarked for the purpose of eventually creating a line of baby products such as clothing and furniture in her name.
Well, unfortunately for the Carters, it doesn’t look like that will be happening. According to reports, the power couple was denied trademark rights for their baby girl’s name. The reason …a Boston event planning company already has the name by way of Blue Ivy Events.
Company president, Veronica Alexandra recently defended her trademark in court and won the rights to the name. Nonetheless and either way it’s not a loss for the Carters and it definitely doesn’t lessen baby Blue’s chances at getting her stacks up like mommy and daddy. We’re sure they already have another plan in motion as we speak.
Well, the $40,000 a ticket private fundraiser thrown by Jay-Z and Beyonce paid off. It’s being reported that the Carter’s were able to raise $4 million for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign!
President Obama and one hundred supporters were in attendance on Tuesday night at Jay’s 40/40 Club. While partaking in Champagne and food, the building was full of pre-congratulatory spirit as everyone mingled and showed grand support for Obama. Jay-Z and Beyonce have been firm supporters of Obama since his first run four years ago. Even Beyonce said a few words celebrating the POTUS.
“I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama,” said Beyonce, in a stunning red cocktail dress and blond curls. “We believe in his vision.”
In appreciation for the special fundraiser on his behalf, President Obama took time out to express his gratitude and crack a joke about the similiarities of his wife Michelle and Beyonce.
“We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s OK,” the president said of he and the “Watch The Throne” rapper.
“Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls,” said Obama
You got to love President Obama. He is one cool dude!
If you’re not yet register, please go register to vote. Elections are November 6. Remember, your vote count!

We’ve heard of $5000 a plate fundraisers for political fundraisers. But, for hip hop’s richest couple, it will cost you a wayyyyyy more than that to even enter the door.
Coming up on Sept 18, Jay-Z and Beyonce Carter will do their part to help fund President Obama’s campaign. According to the NY Post, this exclusive event will cost $40,000 to wine and dine with Obama, The Carters, and other VIPs at the 40/40 Club. And if you’re a true baller, you won’t mind dishing out another $12,500 for a family photo with the President. Word is that Obama will visit a family oriented fundraiser early in the day on the 18th. Location is unknown.
New York is believed to Obama’s last stop before the elections.
Check out Beyonce’s video for ‘I Was Here’ which was filmed last week while she was visiting the United Nations. Her timing for the release of the video was to coincide with World Humanitarian Day (August 19th) hoping she ran reach more than 1 billion people with her message. The video highlights photos of people from various places who live in poverty and those volunteer their time giving back. Watch below…
