kelly-rowland

Kelly Rowland is coming out hard with her new song “Dirty Laundry.”

Not only are her vocals on point, but the transparency of herself in the lyrics drive it all home. In her new single, Kelly is uncut about her feelings when it comes to struggling with her career whims, watching Beyonce’s rise to the top and dealing with a chaotic and abusive relationship.

“Dirty Laundry” was produced by The Dream and is from her upcoming album Talk a Good Game. Listen to “Dirty Laundry” below.

Matthew Knowles Next in Line For Owing Uncle Sam

matthew-knowles

It looks like Beyonce’s papi, Matthew Knowles is next up in line when it comes to who owes back taxes to the IRS

According to reports, Mr. Knowles owes good ole Uncle Sam an estimated $1.2 million in back taxes for 2010 and 2011. He was still managing his superstar daughter then which of course attributes to why the amount of what he possibly owes is so high.

It’s kind of hard to believe that Knowles would be so careless with his finances considering how good he’s been with making money over the last decade or so. But who knows how this could of happened. All I can say is that somewhere along the way, Knowles dropped the ball and didn’t stay on top of his affairs. Hopefully he’ll get it all worked out soon and not have to go the Lauryn Hill route.

Beyonce & Andre 3000′s “Back To Black” + Jay-Z, Will.I.Am Pen Songs for ‘Gatsby’ [Full Snippet]

Beyonce-Andre3000

We love it when Andre 3000 mysteriously pops up with new music.  This time around, he lends his creative juices to a remake of the late Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black”.

Along for the ride, however, is Mrs. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The two very talented artists add a different spin to the track, which will be visually heard on the remake of the Great Gatsby movie.  “Back to Black” will also be featured on the movie soundtrack as well. Although this is just a snippet, you can tell is going to be a fan favorite.

In addition, Beyoncé’s hubby Jay-Z pens the song 100$ Bill on the soundtrack. Will.I.AM. Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, and many others were all called on to bless the movies’ soundscape.

HAUTE!!!

New Music: Drake – “Girls Love Beyonce”

drake

OK, Drake’s admiration for Beyoncé is evident in a new track released last night. The song, “Girls Love Beyoncé” is not an ode to the multi-platinum singer. However, it is a ode to his own dealings with relationships and “girls”.  “Girls Love Beyoncé” uses, however, samples the 1999 Destiny Childs hit ”Say My Name”.

Take a listen to the song and let us know what you think!

Beyonce and Pepsi Encourage You to “Live For Now”

PEPSICO CANADA - GET. BEYONCÉ. NOW.

As a part of Pepsi’s “Live For Now” global campaign, Beyonce as a part of her $50 million deal with the beverage brand, has a new Pepsi commercial.

In the commercial King Bey is in a dance studio surrounded by mirrors in which images of her during her career appear and ensue in a dance battle of sorts. But of course being just as fierce she shatters them all and ends the commercial stating “Embrace your past, but live for now.”

Beyonce’s new song, which happens to be a Timbaland-produced track titled “Grown Woman” serves as the music for the commercial.

About making the commercial, Beyonce said, “I had so much fun collaborating on this campaign with Pepsi. I got to relive some of my favorite past characters and looks. It was the first time I saw those costumes in years and it was very emotional. I’m proud of those moments and they all connect in some way and have helped me evolve into who I am today.”

The Queen of H-town, Beyonce, called on several of city’s legendary rappers to add a bit of the chopped and screwed swag to the track. The remix features Slim Thug, Bun B (UGK), Lil Ke Ke, Willie D (Gheto Boyz), Scarface (Gheto Boyz), and Z-Ro. Peep the remix below and let us know what you think.

New Music: Beyonce’s “Bow Down / I Been On”

Beyonce Knowles-Carter…chileeeee…you are ON ONE with this track!

As proven in her HBO documentary, Beyonce is clearly letting us all into private world bit by bit.  For those who had opinions about how the multi-platinum singer was too reserved and too classy, King Bey is finally giving us the real.   No one can deny that the girl is successful and has worked hard for every dollar and award she has.  “Bow Down / I Been On” is the right way to tell the haters to step off because no one will claim her throne.

The-Dream Releases ‘Fourplay’ Promo Pic + Speaks On Beyonce’s Need To Show “Who She Is”

Black and gold must be the new color these days for rappers…and now singers.  Whichever is the case, The-Dream new promo photo for his upcoming album Fourplay is simple but cool.  The new studio album is scheduled to be released on May 7.  His lead single “Slow It Down”, featuring Fabolous, is out now.

Not really hurting for money, The-Dream keeps the hits coming through his production and songwriting work with Rihanna, Beyonce and a host of others. Speaking of Beyonce, The-Dream recently spoke to Rap Fix Live about the direction of Mrs. Carters’ new album.

“There’s no particular sound that I think we’re shooting for, we’re jus trying to make music that feels good,” said The-Dream.  “If you seen the HBO thing, which was great, we had been talking about doing something that showcases who she is and what she wants because we see those figures that are so out of the stratosphere.  She’s just shooting to be regular and okay and not trying to appease everybody, he said. “You have to appease yourself and your soul for doing it.”

We can’t wait to hear the new projects from both artists.  Hotness guaranteed!

Was Beyonce’s ‘Life Is But A Dream’ A Hit Or Miss?? + HBO Documentary [Full Video]

In what was deemed her most in-depth and personal look yet, Beyonce Knowles-Carter premiered her documentary on HBO this Saturday.  ‘Life Is But A Dream’ captured never-before-seen footage of her continued  highs and lows of life, career, media, love, family, and motherhood.  With a startling kick-off confession of her feelings about her father Matthew Knowles, the sincere moment was definitely a great segway into the rest of the film.

From sharing her personal thoughts on taking control of her career to experiencing a painful miscarriage, Beyonce fulfilled her purpose of giving the world a closer look into her life.  Did she reveal enough? That verdict is still out.  But, if some of us didn’t get quite what we expected, we did get the chance to see the beautiful Blue Ivy Carter.

In case you missed it, check out the full documentary below…

After viewing the documentary, as did many blog sites and viewers, there were a few questionable aspects of the film. Here’s my opinion…

Beyonce’s documentary was directed by her. First and foremost, major kudos go out to her for boss’n up and taking ALL control of how and when her image is seen. I’m down with the female empowerment movement. So, I appreciate that she’s taking an Oprah-like approach to her brand.  However, I think having control of edits and what footage wa seen, I believe took away from the authenticity of the film.  It seemed at certain points in the film, the scenes were staged.  Even if cameras were following her day in and day out, using someone else to direct would have allowed viewers to see an unbias view of the megastar.

Honestly, I’ve seen most of Beyonce’s performances on television and DVD. Even though I have yet to attend one of her live concerts, it feels like I am seeing the exact same footage over and over…and over…and over.  Maybe it’s because I’m hearing her sing the same ole songs which is making the choreography and stage sets seem repeditive. I don’t know. But, I do believe that a lot of the actual concert footage could have been left out of the film.  Personally, I would have preferred more behind-the-scenes footage during pre-production. The scene, with the head dance guy going off on the girl for complaining about not knowing how to sew a hat on her head, was very entertaining. I tend to like a little ratchetness from time to time. :)

Also, I hated that Jay-Z wasn’t seen more in the film.  I love their relationship. She is clearly head over heels for the Brooklyn rapper/entrepreneur.  When he was singing the Coldplay song to her, that was a priceless moment. It was very nice to see a man act so vunerable and sweet. It made me look at Jay in another light.  Lastly, I’m sure it was all part of  Beyonce’s plan to only reveal so much. Will we get more footage and personal thoughts in a future film project? Or in a biography?  I’m sure we’ll find out in due time her reason for only giving the fans just a little bit.

Nonetheless, I wish Beyonce continued sucess in her career, marriage, and motherhood. No one can deny that the little girl from Houston is a bonafied superstar! Not even I…

Beyonce Belts Out An Acapella ‘National Anthem’ At SuperBowl Press Conference

When the naysayers question your talent, PROVE THEM WRONG!  And that’s exactly what Beyonce Knowles-Carter did at her official Super Bowl XLVII press conference.  To end speculation that the Grammy award winning singer/songwriter can’t sing, Beyonce set it off by singing an acapella version of the national anthem.

Peep her performance below:

After belting out this great performance, Beyonce did however speak on why she chose to use a pre-recorded track for President Obama’s inauguration ceremony.

“I am a perfectionist … I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show and a very important moment for me.”

She added, “Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”

Now…CAN SHE LIVE??!!

Beyonce Makes a Power Move With Pepsi

If for some odd you reason you ever questioned whether or not the superstar diva that is Beyonce would stay on top of the money making lists considering her slight hiatus after giving birth to Blue Ivy (just to give you a reason), let me tell you now it’s not happening.

As if she hadn’t already secured her spot with her long list of successes, in what was an ultimate power move, the ‘Dance for You’ singer has added to her list a stack of a deal with Pepsi. With an estimated $50 million deal she’s landed with the beverage company Beyonce has definitely put a lock on her top earning spot.

In the deal, Beyonce will become the face of the brand and allow Pepsi to sponsor her albums, music videos, concerts and photo shoots. In addition to that, Pepsi will afford Beyonce a mutilmillion dollar stack to be used at her disposal for her projects. Not to mention limited edition cans with an image of her face stamped on the side which will be released in the spring.

On why she chose to work with the brand, Beyonce says, “Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve. As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”

We know Bey loves her creativity so this should definitely be a good fit for her.

‘Beyonce: Raw Real Revealed’ in HBO Documentary [Teaser]

“I always battle with ‘How much do I reveal about myself?’ ”

This is what you hear Beyonce ask in voiceover in the recently released teaser for her upcoming documentary in which she promises to be up close and personal letting her fans deeper into the world which she has managed to keep fairly private.

The project which is titled Beyonce: Raw Real Revealed will cover her childhood, go behind the scenes of her tours, and include personal confessions, interviews and the diva trek back on the scene after giving birth to Blue Ivy earlier this year.

The documentary will air on February 16, 2013 on HBO. Check out the doc’s teaser below…

Jay-Z and Beyonce Denied Rights to Trademark ‘Blue Ivy’

With parents like Jay-Z and Beyonce, it was pretty much a given that their offspring, Miss Blue Ivy Carter, was already in place to become a household name without having to do anything at all.  With that being said, early on it went even further with talks of the little ones’ name being trademarked for the purpose of eventually creating a line of baby products such as clothing and furniture in her name.

Well, unfortunately for the Carters, it doesn’t look like that will be happening. According to reports, the power couple was denied trademark rights for their baby girl’s name. The reason …a Boston event planning company already has the name by way of Blue Ivy Events.

Company president, Veronica Alexandra recently defended her trademark in court and won the rights to the name. Nonetheless and either way it’s not a loss for the Carters and it definitely doesn’t lessen baby Blue’s chances at getting her stacks up like mommy and daddy. We’re sure they already have another plan in motion as we speak.

Jay-Z & Beyonce Raises $4 Million for Obama Campaign

Well, the $40,000 a ticket private fundraiser thrown by Jay-Z and Beyonce paid off.  It’s being reported that the Carter’s were able to raise $4 million for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign!

President Obama and one hundred supporters were in attendance on Tuesday night at Jay’s 40/40 Club. While partaking in Champagne and food, the building was full of pre-congratulatory spirit as everyone mingled and showed grand support for Obama. Jay-Z and Beyonce have been firm supporters of Obama since his first run four years ago. Even Beyonce said a few words celebrating the POTUS.

“I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama,” said Beyonce, in a stunning red cocktail dress and blond curls. “We believe in his vision.”

In appreciation for the special fundraiser on his behalf, President Obama took time out to express his gratitude and crack a joke about the similiarities of his wife Michelle and Beyonce.

“We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s OK,” the president said of he and the “Watch The Throne” rapper.

“Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls,” said Obama

You got to love President Obama. He is one cool dude!

If you’re not yet register, please go register to vote. Elections are November 6. Remember, your vote count!

Stacking Chips For Obama: $40K Will Get You In The Carters’ Fundraiser @ 40/40 Club

We’ve heard of $5000 a plate fundraisers for political fundraisers. But, for hip hop’s richest couple, it will cost you a wayyyyyy more than that to even enter the door.

Coming up on Sept 18, Jay-Z and Beyonce Carter will do their part to help fund President Obama’s campaign. According to the NY Post, this exclusive event will cost $40,000 to wine and dine with Obama, The Carters, and other VIPs at the 40/40 Club. And if you’re a true baller, you won’t mind dishing out another $12,500 for a family photo with the President.  Word is that Obama will visit a family oriented fundraiser early in the day on the 18th.  Location is unknown.

New York is believed to Obama’s last stop before the elections.

The Carter’s Blue Ivy Will Want For Nothing

As some of us southerners say, “honey, that baby ain’t gonna want for nothing” Jay-Z and Beyonce plans to go all out for their little bundle of joy.

In a recent episode of Oprah’s Masters Class, Jay-Z revealed that he knows his daughter will definitely be a spoiled little kid.

“I just know I’ll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever.”

As far as how he’ll raise Blue Ivy, Jay explained to Oprah that he’ll use some lessons learned from his mom and from raising his nephews.  And when she grows up, he knows at some point Blue will probably despise them.

“I imagine I’ll take things I learned from my mom and things I’ve learned from raising my nephews and apply that.”

“Everyone imagines they’ll be a great dad until their [kids are] teenagers. [They say], ‘Get away from me, Dad. You’re embarrassing me.’”

Awe…

Beyonce Gets Her Own Class at Rutgers University

A Rutgers University doctoral student, Kevin Allred, currently teaches a class on Beyonce. The class called “Politicizing Beyonce” examines the lyrics and videos of the singer in comparison of the writings of Alice Walker and Sojouner Truth.

“This isn’t a course about Beyonce’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend,” Allred explained via the school’s news site. “She certainly pushes boundaries. While other artists are simply releasing music, she’s creating a grand narrative around her life, her career, and her persona.”

Allred’s was inspired to create the course after a long debate, which spanned over 4 semesters, with students over if Beyonce was a role model.  The course touch on several topics such as Beyonce’s alter-ego “Sasha Fierce”, her half-nakedness is empowering or stereotypical, and her control over her own aesthetic. But Beyonce is not the only singer the course highlights. It also shines a light on Lady GaGa, Nina Simone, and  Billie Holiday.

“It’s important to shift students away from simply being consumers of media toward thinking more critically about what they’re engaging on a regular basis,” Allred added. “When students don’t respond to theory or dense readings, it’s often easier to see things play out in the world around them.”

Jay & Bey’s Baby Girl Lands #74 Spot on Billboard

The Carter’s never cease to amaze me.  So this little news tid-bit shouldn’t be of no surprise to any of you.

The heartfelt song release by the proud popppa called “Glory”, just a few days after the birth of baby Blue Ivy Carter, landed the 74th spot on Billboard’s Top 100 R&B/Hip Hop songs.  The song, which notes B.I.C as a “feature”, is stamped at the end of the record with the sweet cries of the newborn.  The action marks baby Blue as the youngest person to ever be listed on the Billboard charts.

Awww…that’s dope!

Check out “Glory” below:

Interesting Fact:  According to the NYPost, Blue Ivy Carter might have been the first to offically make the charts, but she wasn’t the first baby to be featured on a record.  Stevie Wonder actually recorded his daughter, Aisha Morris, in 1976 on his hit “Isn’t She Lovely”.  But unfortuately, Stevie didn’t add Aisha’s name to the credits.

Show Me The Money! SouljaBoy + Beyonce Face Contractual Lawsuits

Every day, a celebrity is being sued or is suing somebody for something. Geesh! In the latest judicial news, 21-year old rapper Soulja Boy will soon be in the middle of a heated legal battle. According to several news sources, DeAndre Way is suing his former manager Philip Ransom and has filed documents in Georgia Supreme Court. Soulja Boy claims that Mr. Ransom cohersed him into signing a management contracts that were “unconscionable, oppressive, and unjust.”

Soulja Boy alleges that one of the contract agreements signed entitled Mr. Ransom to 5% of his income for all work completed during his time as his client. Also, a separate contract states that Ransom is entitled to 50% of  all of Soulja’s music copyrights. Soulja states that this is “commercially unreasonable.”

Of course, Ransom is calling foul and has filed his own suit stating that Soulja Boy still owes him money.

Beyonce Knowles is in hot water too. A video game company, Gate Five, is seeking $100 million in restitution for a “Beyonce” game that never hit the shelves.  Gate Five insists that Beyonce did not properly notify them about her decision to pull-out of the multi-million dollar project.  In 2010, Gate Five and Beyonce’s team decided upon a deal to develop an interactive video game called “Starpower: Beyonce”. But for some unknown reason, Beyonce backed out of the deal and left the company $7 million in debt and out of a potential profit gain of $100 million.

After a failed attempt to sue Beyonce in April 2011, Gate Five was recently granted an official ruling, by the Manhattan Supreme Court, that there is sufficient evidence to continue the lawsuit.

Good luck B! Hopefully, this can be resolved in a suitable way for both parties.
